Taraxacum is a triangular shawlette worked from the bottom up: you start from the tip and gradually increase to reach the desired width. To make this shawlette you have to be familiar with basic Tunisian crochet skills (Tunisian simple stitch, yarn overs, working multiple stitches together), and you must be able to work with a thin yarn and a relatively small hook.

MATERIALS:

-100 g / 800 m Ortica 400 by Borgo de’ Pazzi; -6 mm corded Tunisian crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge); -scissors, yarn needle to weave in ends.

SIZE OF FINISHED ITEM : 140 cm wide x 70 cm long after blocking.

GAUGE: 17 TSS x 15 rows (1 row = forward and return pass) = 10 x 10 cm.

BEFORE YOU START:

-all rows include a 1st loop that stays on hook: this loop is never worked;

-the last ST of each row must be worked putting the hook through the fabric from front to back, just like a Tunisian knit stitch;

-all rows have a normal return: yarn over, CH 1, yarn over, close loops 2 by 2 till you have only 1 loop left on hook.

SPECIAL STICHES:

-Work 2 Tunisian simple stitches together: in forward row, insert hook under next 2 vertical bars from right to left, yarn over, pull up a loop.

-Work 2 Tunisian simple stitches together backwards: in forward row, insert hook under next 2 vertical bars from left to right, yarn over, pull up a loop.

-Work 3 Tunisian simple stitches together: in forward row, insert hook under next 3 vertical bars from right to left, yarn over, pull up a loop.

Repeat rows 12-18 till desired length and width, adjusting pattern’s repeats (from * to *) to rows’ length. Return.

Casting off: work full final row in SL ST, without YO at the beginning and at the end of the row. Insert the hook under the vertical bar in front of the TSS below and in YO space of TFS below.

Cut yarn, weave in ends, block to open up the fabric.
