4 Project Name: Community Forum − Help/Technical Assistance − Networking − Community Outreach Drug Awareness Project − Seminars and Workshops − Cork Community Drug Prevention Training Programme Project Description: • This project employs a worker to assist community and voluntary groups in organising themselves and developing proposals to tackle the drugs problem. • The role of the project is to: facilitate the development of networks around specific themes in Cork, and to allow community personnel study visits to Dublin to examine how similar problems are being addressed there. • This project consists of an action research project; education and training courses, a library of drugs and alcohol information resources. • This fund provides financial assistance to community and voluntary groups who wish to organise forums, seminars, workshops, etc., at local level on the issue of drug misuse. • To provide specific training opportunities on drug related topic for community groups, LDTF project workers and service providers, including information and awareness courses, worker and management training courses, etc. Contact Name: Ms. Anne O’Sullivan. 7 Project Name: The Glen Neighbourhood Youth Project Project Description: This project runs a broad based, life skills programme which includes drug education, but has a wider brief, i.e., facilitating and developing Imagination, creativity and confidence and thus life skills and interests which counteract the draw and attraction of drugs. Project Description: This project will provide a residential supportive environment for young male drug misusers in early recovery. A halfway house for men in recovery will be established and one full time and two part time Addiction Counsellors will be recruited.
