Cowell, Cressida. How to Train Your Dragon. (Juvenile Fiction Cowell) Chronicles the adventures and misadventures of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third as he tries to pass the important initiation test of his Viking clan, the Tribe of the Hairy Hooligans, by catching and training a dragon. DiCamillo, Kate. The Tale of Despereaux. (Juvenile Fiction DiCamillo) The adventures of Desperaux Tilling, a small mouse of unusual talents, the princess that he loves, the servant girl who longs to be a princess, and a devious rat determined to bring them all to ruin.

Funke, Cornelia. Dragon Rider. (Juvenile Fiction Funke) After learning that humans are headed toward his hidden home, Firedrake, a silver dragon, is joined by a brownie and an orphan boy in a quest to find the legendary valley known as the Rim of Heaven, encountering friendly and unfriendly creatures along the way, and struggling to evade the relentless pursuit of an old enemy.

George, Jessica Day. Tuesdays at the Castle. Mlynowski, Sarah. Fairest of All. (Juvenile Fiction Mlynowski) Follows the adventures of siblings Abby and Jonah, whose magic mirror leads them into different fairy tales, from Snow White to Rapunzel to the Little Mermaid. In each fairy tale, Abby and Jonah accidentally mess up the story, and hilarity and hijinks ensue! (Whatever After series, book 1)

Mull, Brandon. Five Kingdoms: Sky Raiders. (Juvenile Fiction Mull) Whisked through a portal to The Outskirts, an in-between world, sixth-grader Cole must rescue his friends and find his way back home before his existence is forgotten. (Five Kingdoms series, book 1)

Spirit. Wild Born. (Juvenile Fiction Spirit) Follows the adventures of four noble animals who sacrifice everything to protect their homes from a mad king in the world of Erdas. (Spirit Animals series, book 1)

Sutherland, Tui T. The Dragonet Prophecy. (Juvenile Fiction Sutherland) The seven dragon tribes have been at war for generations, locked in an endless battle over an ancient, lost treasure. A secret movement called the Talons of Peace is determined to bring an end to the fighting, with the help of a prophecy--a foretelling that calls for great sacrifice. Five dragonets are collected to fulfill the prophecy, raised in a hidden cave and enlisted, against their will, to end the terrible war. (Wings of Fire series, book 1)

Vernon, Ursula. Dragonbreath. West, Jacqueline. The Shadows. (Juvenile Fiction West) When eleven-year-old Olive and her distracted parents move into an old Victorian mansion, Olive finds herself ensnared in a dark plan involving some mysterious paintings, a trapped and angry nine-year-old boy, and three talking cats. West, Tracey. Rise of the Earth Dragon. (Juvenile Fiction West) Eight-year-old Drake is snatched up by the King's soldiers and taken to the castle where he is told by the wizard Griffith that he has been chosen to be a Dragon Master like Ana, Rori, and Bo--and his first task will be to discover whether his dragon, Worm, has any special powers. Ursu, Anne. The Lost Girl. (Juvenile Fiction Ursu) Iris and Lark are identical twins, and they've never left each other's side.
