The ‘rail roko’ protest against the ban on Jallikattu called by the DMK at around 10.30 a.m on Jan. 20 turned violent after a large number of party workers broke barricades to enter Mambalam Station. The situation worsened after senior party leader M. K. Stalin and a number of party workers squatted on the track thereby stopping the movement of trains.
