Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate Sunnyside, Washington Irving Estate

Day One, Saturday Evening: Welcome Reception and Dinner We look forward to meeting you at our Welcome Reception and Dinner this evening at 6 PM. You will meet your fellow travelers and our guide, Gary Lawrance. A brief introduction to the week’s itinerary and additional materials will be provided at this event.

Location: DoubleTree by Hilton Tarrytown, 455 S , Tarrytown, NY 10591 7:00 PM Reception and Dinner hosted by Gary Lawrance. Notes: Check-in is available after 3 PM and parking is free. If you take the train, we will meet you to help with your transfer to the Hilton.

Day Two, Sunday: Kykuit and Sunnyside, Washington Irving's Home A lovely breakfast buffet is provided each morning before you meet Mr. Lawrance and the M&S Tour Host in the Lobby at 9 AM. Our private charter awaits as we begin the day.

Kykuit, the Rockefeller Mansion Completed in 1913 for American businessman and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Kykuit has been home to four generations of the Rockefeller family. Architect Williams Welles Bosworth is responsible for the creation of the Beaux-Arts house and elaborate gardens in the Italian style.

Lunch: Rivermarket Bar & Kitchen in Tarrytown The restaurant proudly represents the farmers and producers located throughout the Hudson River Valley and beyond who are raising & growing their products naturally, sustainably & humanely.

Washington Irving’s Sunnyside. America’s “Founding Father of Literature” created a romantic, picturesque estate nestled along the Hudson riverbank. The enchanted landscape has been charming guests for generations.

Armour-Stiner Octagon House Lyndhurst Mansion

Day Three, Monday: Armour-Stiner Octagon House and Lyndhurst Mansion

The Armour-Stiner Octagon House is one of the most visually unique houses in the world. It is the only known residence constructed in the domed colonnaded octagonal form of an ancient classical temple. The exterior and interior of the house, its decorations, and its 1870s furnishings all reflect the late 19th-century interest in exotic decoration.

Lunch: Special Lunch Event at Lyndhurst Mansion

Lyndhurst Mansion Lyndhurst is one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions and a National Trust Historic Site. It was designed in 1838 by . Its architectural brilliance is complemented by the park-like landscape of the estate and a comprehensive collection of original decorative arts. Noteworthy occupants include former New York City mayor William Paulding and railroad tycoon Jay Gould.

Following the visit at Lyndhurst, if time permits, our guide will take us to visit Belvedere Mansion next door and perhaps a walk on Croton Path to see mansion ruins that are evocative of the “” series.

Dinner: Equus, the restaurant located in The Castle at Tarrytown, a historic, century-old castle, is noted for its fine French-New American Fare. The hotel and dining rooms emphasize the castle's impressive bones, which include original mahogany panels (some of which belonged to Louis XIV), tapestries, stone walls, stained glass, and stunning river views. Consider taking a scenic train ride back to New York City’s Grand Central Terminal and continue your journey from there. We're happy to help you make those arrangements.
