After the death of her husband in 1844, Elizabeth, with her daughter-in-law Hannah HAYNES and grandson Daniel, was the subject of a removal order by the Overseers of the Poor for Preston Capes to Priors Marston, Warks. The Overseers for Priors Marston appealed against the order claiming that they belonged to Priors Hardwick, but to save costs agreed to take them on 14 Oct 1845. Elizabeth died in 1851. Simon was ordained a deacon at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford on 17 Dec 1748 and was awarded a B.C.L. degree at All Souls College, Oxford in 1752. He married Katherine COMPLIN in 1754 and after a brief spell at Headington, Oxon was appointed Rector of Hannington, Wilts. He was appointed Rector of Withern, Lincs on 14 Mar 1772 but resigned in 1778 when his mother moved to Lavendon Grange, Bucks where he took the position as Curate. In 1790, a year after his mother’s death, Simon was instituted as Rector of Barwell, Leics. He resigned this position on 4 May 1803 when he took the job as Curate of Drayton in Norfolk. He left the parish with his parents on 22 Jan 1964 and moved firstly to Somerset and then Oxton, Notts before moving with them to Old Bursledon, Hants in 1973. James attended the University of Lancaster between 1980 and 1983 where he attained an M.A degree. He moved to London and worked for the Victoria and Albert Museum between 1991 and 1994 while studying for a Post- Graduate Diploma at Strawberry Hill, University of Surrey. James moved back to Old Bursledon, Hants where worked for the National Trust as Historical Interpreter and Events Planner between 1995 and 2002 and English Heritage as Property Manager from 2002 to 2003. He has worked in Visitor Services for the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens since 2003. James’ interest include Architecture and social history. Taken in 1909 The son of Joseph and Drusilla AYRES (née WILLS), William was born at Preston Capes and baptised at the parish church on 12 Jun 1887. He left the parish with his parents about 5 Oct 1888 and moved to Northampton where he enlisted as a private in the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, service number 7590. William married Mary Louisa GIDDINGS in Northampton in 1906 and moved to Thrapston, He won the regimental cross country run in 1909 and by 1911 he had reached the rank of Corporal. During the First World War, William served in France from 13 Aug 1914 and returned from the war in 1916 when he moved with his family to Derby, Derbys. He was awarded the British War and Victory medals and the 1914 Star with Clasp and Roses on 21 Oct 1921. William died at Derby in 1929 at the age of 42.
