Allein in San Joses Innenstadt gibt es über 50 Mietstationen von Ford Go Bike. Mieträder können stunden- oder tageweise ausgeliehen werden, Raten beginnen bei drei US-Dollar für eine Fahrt oder zehn US-Dollar pro Tag. So können Radfahrer Downtown erkunden, entlang der First Street die außergewöhnliche Graffiti-Kunst bewundern und anschließend in einem der individuellen Cafés einen Snack zur Stärkung einnehmen. Mit dem Rad lassen sich auch die umliegenden Kleinstädte und Vororte wie Palo Alto und Mountainview erkunden, wo unter anderem Tech-Giganten wie Apple und Google ihren Hauptsitz haben. Darüber hinaus laden spannende Shops und Restaurants in den Zentren zum Entdecken ein. Buntblühende Hügel und eine frische Meeresbrise Auf der Halbinsel Monterey, am südlichen Ende der Monterey Bay gelegen, verwandelt sich die wildromantische Küste von Pacific Grove jedes Jahr zum Frühlingsbeginn in ein farbenfrohes Blütenmeer: In Monterey ist die Natur noch weitgehend unberührt und zieht zahlreiche Reisende mit ihrer malerischen Landschaft in ihren Bann. Einen Besuch – und vor allem eine Kostprobe wert ist auch der Testarossa Winery and Tasting Room in Los Gatos oder die Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards in Saratoga. Wanderfreunde können einen Besuch der Testarossa Winery mit einem Ausflug entlang des Los Gatos Creek Trail und des Jones Trail verbinden. Im Saint Joseph’s Hill Open Space Preserve finden Wanderer einen Zugang zum Los Gatos Creek Trail, der sich von San Jose bis nach Los Gatos erstreckt. Von dort aus führt der Jones Trail in den Novitiate Park, in dem auch die Weinkellerei Testarossa liegt. Aber auch Cooper- Garrod lässt sich zu Fuß erreichen: Im nahegelegenen Freemont Older Space Preserve bieten mehr als 22 Kilometer lange Hiking-Wege ideale Wandermöglichkeiten. Das Weingut ist über die Trails Wedding, Coyote Ridge und Bay View erreichbar. Ein Mekka für Comic-Fans Vom 6. bis zum 8. April 2018 steht San Jose im Zeichen der Comic-Fans. Das Festival, das von Apple- Mitbegründer Steve Wozniak und Comic-Legende Stan Lee ins Leben gerufen wurde, verbindet die Popkultur mit der Technologie der Region. Besucher können hier wie die Nerds der beliebten US- Serie „The Big Bang Theory“ ihre Helden feiern. Zu Gast werden unter anderem sein: Marvel Comics- Legende Stan Lee, Schauspieler Mads Mikkelsen und Sean Astin, besser bekannt als Samweis Gamdschie aus der „Herr der Ringe“-Trilogie und zuletzt erfolgreich in der zweiten Staffel der Serie „Stranger Things“. It highlights achievements to date and the status of projects and programs underway. The status of the five Bike Plan 2020 goals listed above is also summarized graphically in Attachment 1.     DRAFT PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT PLAN Introduction East San José includes six planned Urban Villages, a planned BART station, operating Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), many other operating transit routes, trails, freeways, and bike and pedestrian networks and gaps. The City and project team seek to develop a community-driven transportation plan to synthesize and advance past planning efforts, reflect the priorities of this culturally diverse neighborhood, and define a path forward for implementing multimodal transportation improvements within the study area. A successful East San Jos é Multimodal Transportation Improvement Plan (ESJ MTIP) depends on an inclusive and equitable public outreach process that will solicit input from key individuals and organizations as well as a broad cross-section of East San José’s communities and s takeholder groups. This project will also draw upon outreach and recommendations developed as part of ongoing and previously completed transportation projects in the study area. Close collaboration between city staff, the consultant team, and other current planning efforts will be essential. This Public Involvement Plan (PIP) outlines strategies to involve and engage East San José’s various communities and diverse populations, detailing the ways the project team intends to seek and secure broad participation and the expected outcomes from such participation.
