ADJUTANT GENERAL’S DEPARTMENT OHIO NAVAL MILITIA CAMP PERRY TRAINING SITE 1000 LAWRENCE ROAD BLDG 1, ATTN: ONM PORT CLINTON, OH 43452-9578 OHIO NAVAL MILITIA PARTICIPATES AT OHIO FALLEN HEROS MEMORIAL SUNBURY, OH, September 11, 2010: Captain J. F. Jackson and members of the Ohio Naval Militia participated in the annual Service of Remembrance at the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial. All Ohio Naval Militia personnel that attended the Memorial Service either participated in the Service itself or participated in the Guard Mount that immediately followed the Service. The participating ONM members walked a very respectful “Guard Post” in front of the flagstaff that sits in front of more than two hundred and twenty stone crosses that symbolize a loved one’s absence. Just prior to the conclusion of the Ceremony, “Echo Taps” was performed by ONM's LT Larry Palmer in company with a member of the United States Air Force that was also in attendance. The Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial was founded and established in 2005 by a local Veteran who had a vision to build a beautiful tribute to all of the men and women in uniform from Ohio that have made the ultimate sacrifice defending our Country in the Global War on Terrorism since September 11, 2001. Thanks to the efforts of countless volunteers, the Village of Sunbury and many financial contributors the memorial became a reality when it was dedicated on June 30, 2007.The Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial is recognized by Ohio House Resolution 30 as Ohio’s only recognized Memorial honoring all Ohio Military personnel killed in the War on Terrorism. The website for the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial can be found at: http://www.ohiofallenheroes.org The Ohio Naval Militia [ONM] is an organized, unarmed, all volunteer unit that has been serving the State of Ohio and our nation since 1896.
