As this dependence on recent repertoire continues, the viola boasts a growing number of works containing microtonal pitch collections, and the modern performer and pedagogue must have the skills to interpret these works. This document serves as a guide to the intonation of microtonal viola repertoire, asserting that the first step lies in understanding the pitch collections from the composer’s point of view.
