3rd Quarter • 2012 They'll lay on their laurels and stick to what they've done on the next album. We're not look- ing at what anyone around us is doing. Since we're not paying attention to any of that, we were able to find unique music within ourselves. We tried to break some boundaries and stretch the genre open. We keep redefining ourselves." The musical prowess of the band members is becoming more evident beyond the metal world, as Spreitzer and Kendrick released signature ESP guitars. Boecklin has also been prominently featured in all drum magazines, namely Modern Drummer and DRUM!, as his kit work continues to turn heads. Featured Writer... • Scott Kirby Releases New Cd
SCOTT KIRBY RELEASES NEW CD th SOL SEARCHING TO BE RELEASED APRIL 20 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT PERSON: Terry Lederer 703-476-0268, [email protected] (APRIL 10, 2013) Singer/ songwriter and Little Flock Music recording artist Scott Kirby will debut SOL SEARCHING, his seventh recording on compact disc on April 20th. The CD features ten new songs and an array of stellar musicians, some familiar to Little Flock listeners and some new faces, plus a few tracks from three amazing student musicians at The CharterTech School for The Performing Arts in Somers Point, New Jersey, where the CD was recorded. Kirby wrote the words and music for most of the songs for SOL SEARCHING over the past two years in a series of writing sessions in a couple of old cottages perched on the rocky shores of Maine and New Hampshire, so it’s little wonder his latest work has a bit more taste of his native New England coast than some of the Key West resident’s previous recordings. In fact, the title track, Sol Searching, was inspired by a northern friend’s desperate mid winter desire to finally feel some sol, the Spanish word for sun. The majority of the recording was engineered and produced by Lew London, a Grammy nominated producer and multi-instrumentalist with nearly four decades of performing and recording his own music, as well as backing such iconic artists as Steve Goodman and David Bromberg. After recording at the CharterTech Studio, where he teaches music and recording, London went on to mix the CD at Butcher Boy Studios in Chicago with long time friend and musical colleague Jim Tullio; a composer, musician and producer who has worked with many illustrious artist’s such as Mavis Staples, Levon Helm, Los Lonely Boys, Bonnie Rait, John Prine Richie Havens and John Martyn.

  • Row Me Home Press Release
SCOTT KIRBY TO RELEASE NEW CD IN SEPTEMBER “ROW ME HOME” produced by Russell Kunkel FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: TERRY LEDERER [email protected] 703-476-0268 (September 1, 2009) Little Flock Music announced today Singer Songwriter Scott Kirby will release his new CD, “Row Me Home” on September 18th of this year. The new recording is Kirby’s sixth release and features 11 brand new songs by the artist known for his laid back “beach folk” style. Originally from Concord, New Hampshire, Kirby has lived in Key West for the better part of twenty years, but still spends much of his time on the New Hampshire Seacoast when not touring. His songs are a mainstay on Radio Margaritaville, the popular station heard nationally on Sirius and XM satellite radio. “Row Me Home” was produced by veteran drummer/producer Russell Kunkel in his Los Angeles studio and mixed by son and Emmy winning engineer Nathaniel Kunkel. In addition to his extraordinary drumming career, Kunkel has produced a number of well known artists such as Dan Fogelburg, Carly Simon, Aaron Neville and Graham Nash. He also produced six Jimmy Buffett Albums and has numerous co-writing credits with Buffett and many others and co- wrote four of the songs on Kirby’s latest CD. Kunkel also released his own Jazz album, “Rivage” last year on the Chateau Beach label. In addition to producing, Kunkel played drums and percussion and was joined by longtime rhythm section partner Leland Sklar on bass, legendary guitarist Dean Parks on pedal steel, dobro, acoustic and electric guitar, and keyboardist extraordinaire Jay Oliver on piano and organ.

  • MV Newsletter 2/05
The Margaritaville Store opened on January 28, 1985 and the first Coconut Telegraph was mailed in February of that year. The plan was to put together a newsletter to keep in touch with the fans. And with over a million Coconut Telegraphs printed and mailed, we’d like to think we’ve accomplished that task. Throughout 2005 we will highlight articles from the newsletter, recalling that, "...those who choose to ignore history are destined to repeat it." One can only hope. 1989 began with Jimmy in Shrimpboat Sound, and it still had that new studio smell, complet- ing initial roughs of what would be his 17th MCA release Off To See The Lizard. Plans were also underway for a Caribbean Musical Festival in Miami's Bayfront Park & Amphitheatre. The fundraising concert was held to benefit the Florida Inter-American Scholarship Foundation, providing scholar- ships for students from the Caribbean Basin to study in local universities and colleges. The Margaritaville offices were mildly disrupted early in June as plans for the video of Take Another Road neared completion. The video Jimmy with Senator Bob Graham promoting was being filmed at the infamous Islander the Caribbean Music Festival. Drive In and Margaritaville employees were offered $50 for the use of their car in the video. Of course it had to be at night as plans called for a movie to be projected on what remained of the screen. Little did we know it would be all night…literally ‘till 4 AM. By that time we would have paid $50 just to go home.
