Junior Sailing Ladies Cup. Etchells Fleet Celebrates FREE BEER AND SODA the Binnacle ~ August 2010 page 2 LCYC Binnacle - August 2010 Commodores Corner The summer is more than half past, but we are not ready to start winding down. There is so much more to do. The Club has been extremely active this year. People tell me mid week is slow, but I have witnessed a nice steady quiet activity. There is almost al- ways a Board member past and / or present roaming around doing something and I have rarely seen the stewards idle. Maybe this will change as the Jr. sailors have finished their sessions and the air cools a bit more each night. Ladies Cup was a perfect event. A shifty wind from the north, “cheating to the east,” was a challenge to 50 boats crossing the line. The finishers crossed the line in an unexpected order and Sly, with three generations of Beaudins sailing, took the honor of the Cup. The afternoon atmosphere was casual but excited for the fine weather, the company and for all the winners. The race, the BBQ, the Opti dedication and memory to Don and Mary Rathbone and the awards made it all in all a very fine day.

  • UNITED STATES PERFORMANCE HANDICAP RACING FLEET LOW, HIGH, AVERAGE and MEDIAN PERFORMANCE HANDICAPS for the Years 2005 Through 2011 IMPORTANT NOTE
UNITED STATES PERFORMANCE HANDICAP RACING FLEET LOW, HIGH, AVERAGE AND MEDIAN PERFORMANCE HANDICAPS for the years 2005 through 2011 IMPORTANT NOTE The following pages lists base performance handicaps (BHCPs) and low, high, average, and median performance handicaps reported by US PHRF Fleets for well over 4100 boat classes or types displayed in Adobe Acrobat portable document file format. Use Adobe Acrobat’s ‘FIND” feature, <CTRL-F>, to display specific information in this list for each class. Class names conform to US PHRF designations. The information for this list was culled from data sources used to prepare the “History of US PHRF Affiliated Fleet Handicaps for 2011”. This reference book, published annually by the UNITED STATES SAILING ASSOCIATION, is often referred to as the “Red, White, & Blue book of PHRF Handicaps”. The publication lists base handicaps in seconds per mile by Class, number of actively handicapped boats by Fleet, date of last reported entry and other useful information collected over the years from more than 60 reporting PHRF Fleets throughout North America. The reference is divided into three sections, Introduction, Monohull Base Handicaps, and Multihull Base Handicaps. Assumptions underlying determination of PHRF Base Handicaps are explicitly listed in the Introduction section. The reference is available on-line to US SAILING member PHRF fleets and the US SAILING general membership. A current membership ID and password are required to login and obtain access at: http://offshore.ussailing.org/PHRF/2011_PHRF_Handicaps_Book.htm . Precautions: Reported handicaps base handicaps are for production boats only. One-off custom designs are not included. A base handicap does not include fleet adjustments for variances in the sail plan and other modifications to designed hull form and rig that determine the actual handicap used to score a race.

  • SY SQUAD Program 2016
1 | P a g e Welcome to the Southport Yacht Club Squad 2016 In this information booklet you will find detailed descriptions of what’s in store for the Team in 2016. We urge you to please keep this booklet handy as it will have all the information required for the year ahead. There are certain requirements that are implemented this year to encourage additional commitment as we strive to support and encourage every individual sailor to be the best that they can be. We cater for various skill levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced) and have structured the training schedule to suit. Some sessions may be divided into on-water and off-water as to best benefit the sailors development. Please be aware that in some instances our training schedule will need to be adapted to suit varying weather conditions ie. wind and tide. This may result in some training sessions being theory and/or fitness based. These sessions also form an important part of your sailing pathway. The Club Coach will make this decision, prior to the session, based on the safety of the squad members and opportunity for development. All squad members will be asked to abide by a behaviour code, copy attached. Welcome to the Team and all the best for your 2016 sailing season. Kind Regards, Joe Sabin Club Coach 2 | P a g e Behaviour: This year we have decided to reinforce some rules into the Academy to ensure that all students are working hard to improve their skills, while also having fun!!
