Visited by over 1.6 million people every year Ouchi-juku

One great aspect of traveling along the Diamond Route is the ability to catch a glimpse of a side to Japan one may think had disappeared in centuries gone by.During the (1603-1868), Ouchi-juku flourished as a post-town due to its location along the highway that linked Aizu-Wakamatsu with Nikko. Many visitors come to Ouchi-juku for its traditional olde-worlde townscape, which has not changed much since the Edo Period. The area is famous for "Negisoba", a local soba dish which is eaten with a green onion instead of chopsticks. Ouchi-juku is just a 2 hour drive from Nikko, and is close to the towns Yunokami Onsen and Ashinomaki Onsen.
