Alpington & Yelverton Ashby St Mary Your Parish Council keeping you informed

The Parish Council is considering helping launch a community website for the two parishes to make it easier for residents, village group members and visitors to find out what is happening. To help make this work we are seeking a local trainee web master to work with the person who will set this up, and then take over as the main paid web master. In addition, a small volunteer team will be required to run and operate the website, which will include other village groups as the website develops. More details and job details are available from our Parish Clerk [email protected]

Thank you to all who responded to the Community Emergency Plan questionnaires in January. We had many offers of assistance and are currently working on putting together an updated Plan taking these into account. We will be in contact with those of you who volunteered to help over the next few months and will also give an update on the Plan.

Yelverton Pond. Before starting the recent clearance work we took advice from the Norfolk Wildlife Trust and independent ecologists. The aim of the project is to improve the health of the pond and manage this local amenity properly, since it had become overgrown and water quality had suffered. What we‟d like to do next is have some of the mud and sediment removed to make the water deeper. We have had the mud laboratory tested (a statutory requirement) and it is cleared for spreading on land, so we‟re appealing for farmers and landowners who can help by collecting and carting away. We can arrange a digger to excavate and load, but the cost of taking the mud away is prohibitive for our limited budget. If you are able to help, we‟d be delighted to hear from you. Please contact the Clerk. [email protected] or Chairman, Jeremy McNulty on 07786 426055.
