I have a particular passion for working with interdisciplinary and introductory students and I play an active role in creating an environment that facilitates and strengthens diversity, equity and inclusion. Levinas—Ethics, Politics, and the Problem of Violence: July 2013. o 2010 Master’s in Liberal Studies: Liberal Studies Rollins College - Winter Park, FL Thesis Title: The Metaphysics of Love and Lack (Intersections of Hegel and Levinas) • Honors/Activities: Master of Liberal Studies Grant, D.J./Lecturer for WPRK 91.5 FM, TA for Senior Seminar in Philosophy 2004 B.A.: Ethics, History, Public Policy, Minor: English Carnegie Mellon University - Pittsburgh, PA • Honors/ Activities: Andrew Carnegie Scholarship, Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies initiate; Undergraduate Student Senate, Funding and Recognition Chair; Progressive Student Alliance; Activities Board Political Speakers Series Work History 2020 - Current Visiting Instructor University of South Florida, Tampa, FL • Developed curriculum and taught 2 3-credit hour courses per semester (Fall- Spring 2020-2021), and 4 3-credit hour courses per semester (Fall-Spring 21-22), developed and taught 100% synchronous online curricula and face-to-face. • Became certified and proficient at using Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams to instruct students in a wholly online environment. • Advised 50 students per class on how to write for and read topics in Biomedical Ethics & Introduction to Ethics, integrating contemporary pandemic and racial justice issues into the curricula. 2019 - 2020 Acting Faculty Ethics Faculty, St. Petersburg College, St. Petersburg, FL • Developed curriculum and taught 5 or 6 3-credit hour PHI 1600 courses per term, both online and face-to-face. • Became certified and proficient at using MyCourses to instruct students in a wholly online environment. • Obtained $3,000 Silverberg grant to buttress the SPC laptop-lending program to more campuses. • Organized college-wide forum for SPC Reads on topic of racial justice, connecting book themes to SPC community issues. 2019 – 2019 Adjunct Philosophy Instructor Hillsborough Community College, South Shore, FL • Taught 12 week 3-credit hour online courses in Intro to Philosophy. • Became certified and proficient at using Canvas to instruct students in a wholly online environment. • Advised 30 students per class on how to write for and read topics in philosophy. • Tailored the online shell for Introduction to Philosophy to my course. 2016 - 2019 Critical Thinking Highschool Teacher King High School Magnet, Hillsborough County Public Schools, Tampa, FL • Created and instructed a 9th grade level Critical Thinking curriculum in rigorous pre-requisites to the International Baccalaureate program. • Certified to teach by State of Florida after extensive study in pedagogy and curriculum development to address diverse learners and learning styles. • Served as club sponsors to 5 clubs and elected to and chaired local, state, and national committees for my professional association. 2012 - 2017 Graduate Teaching Assistant University of South Florida, Tampa, FL • Taught self-designed curriculum for 50 students in Introduction to Philosophy and/or Introduction to Ethics each semester. • Teaching assistant and instructor for Introduction to Philosophy. • Received excellent reviews from students. 2010 - 2012 Adjunct Philosophy Instructor Valencia College, Orlando, FL • Developed curriculum and taught 20th Century Humanities and Introduction to Philosophy for Valencia College, and received excellent reviews from students and administrators. • Developed campus-wide film series to support Humanities instruction. 2009 – 2010 Program Assistant Rollins College Jewish Studies Program, Winter Park, FL • Served as Program Assistant to the Rollins College Undergraduate Jewish Studies Program, to create academic programming and to write the yearly newsletter. 2005 – 2006 English and Reading Middle School Teacher Westridge Middle School, Orange County Public Schools, Orlando, FL • Created and instructed a 6th grade level Language Arts curriculum, a 7th grade level Language Arts curriculum, two 8th grade level Language Arts curricula. • Instructed an Intensive Reading course. 2003 - 2004 Teaching Assistant Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA • Served as the only undergraduate Teaching Assistant in the Philosophy department.
