The Yamhill High Flyers are Yamhill County’s first sports franchise. The team will bring high quality basketball at an affordable price. General Manager Eric Bailey—“We’re very excited to be Yamhill County’s first sports franchise and to be the newest members of the International Basketball League”. High Flyers Kickoff News Conference: The High Flyers will officially introduce the franchise to the Yamhill County community this Friday, April 24 th, at 3pm at McMinnville’s City Park. The public is welcome to attend. Those that want to volunteer for the team or sponsor, or in any way—help with this team/effort should attend.     2018-19 COACHES AND STAFF Prior to entering the collegiate ranks, Brey played for and coached with COACHES AND legendary high school coach Morgan Wootten at DeMatha High School. He played two years at DeMatha, helping the Stags to a 55-9 record. After his graduation from George Washington, Brey spent five seasons as an assistant STAFF coach at his high school alma mater, helping DeMatha compile a 139-22 record, four league titles and a number-one national ranking by USA Today in 1984. Brey serves on the Coaches vs. Cancer National Council and has helped raise over three million dollars for the organization. He also has partnered with the American Heart Association to create the Men of Heart initiative, raising funds and awareness for men’s heart health. Brey is on the National Advisory Board of the Positive Coaching Alliance. He has also been inducted into the University of Delaware and the George Washington University MIKE BREY Athletics Halls of Fame. The franchise is also pleased to announce the opening of offices in McMinnville along with new team staff. Team Background: The Yamhill HighFlyers played 9 games in 2009, 2 home and 7 road games, as part of their ‘branding season’—a coming soon mode the IBL uses to help teams create a fan base and prepare for their first full season in the league. The HighFlyers won their first game in franchise history on May 28 th , 2009 with a home victory against the Japan Tornadoes 140-121 in front of a strong home crowd. Chris Hunt and Jason Hartford were the stars of the 2009 season—both are set to return for 2010 and will be surrounded by an upgraded roster. The HighFlyers will play 23 games in 2010—10 home, 9 road, and 4 neutral site.     Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Men’s Silver Anniversary Team 1991/2016 Barker, Lance Columbus East Four-time all-sectional player led Columbus East to 1990 sectional championship title, plus named all-regional. Scored 1,755 career points and remains Columbus’ all-time leading scorer and ranks 94th on all-time IHSAA scoring list. Named AP and UPI honorable mention. Played four years at Valparaiso University where he was named Mid-Continent Conference Newcomer of the Year while leading the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.52%), finishing second in the nation in NCAA Division I basketball. Barker is a varsity assistant coach at Columbus North and also coaches Indiana Elite AAU team who won the 7th grade National Championship in Las Vegas this year. Along with coaching, he has been co-owner of Barker Brothers Plumbing since 2012. He is married with two children. Beathea, Daimon Elkhart Memorial 1991 Indiana All-Star. Three-time all-area, two-time all-conference, team MVP and McDonald’s Capital Classic All-American scored 1,228 career points at Elkhart Memorial. Member of 1989 regional championship team, averaging 10.4 points as a sophomore. Averaged 21.5 points and 10.7 rebounds as a senior. Four-year letter winner at Michigan State University, coached by Tom Izzo senior year and was named Team Defensive Player of the Year. Teams made two NIT tourneys and two NCAA tourney appearances, along with being 1995 Big 10 Runner-Up. Played six years professionally in Sweden, Portugal, Chile, Italy and in the United States. Coached college basketball at Ancilla, Dayton and Wisconsin- Green Bay.

The Oregon Waves is heading into their 3rd year and the City of Portland’s 7th year of involvement in the International Basketball League (first few years for a Portland team were with the Portland Chinooks—a team owned by Terry Emmert). Waves Head Coach and owner Terrance Dickens heads up this third year Oregon Waves team; Dickens believes that with a lot of returning players and some key acquisitions, the Waves will have a 'rebound season'. Seven players have indicated that they will play for the Oregon Waves - 1. Isaiah Fox (6' 9'') - Arizona 2. JS Nash (6' 2'') - Oregon State 3. Lamar Hurd (6' 4'') - Oregon State 4. Robert Day (6' 4'') - Western Oregon 5. David Jackson (6' 5'') - Oregon 6. Well known Oregon native, 6' 8'' forward David Lucas will be in his fourth season with the IBL, Lucas led the IBL in scoring with 37 ppg in both 2007 & 2008. 7. Also joining the team is 5' 10'' Terrence Whiters , who last played with the New York Knicks Summer League team and is currently playing overseas at the Division 1 level. Some IBL fans might remember Terrence Whiters leading the Central Oregon Hotshots in 2008 with 37 ppg in 5 games played.

The city is located 15 miles (24 km) east of South Bend, Indiana, 110 miles (180 km) east of Chicago, Illinois, and 150 miles (240 km) north of Indianapolis, Indiana. Elkhart has the City of Elkhart, Indiana larger population of the two principal cities of the Elkhart-Goshen Metropolitan Statistical Area, which in turn is part of the City South Bend-Elkhart-Mishawaka Combined Statistical Area, in a region commonly known as Michiana.
