  • The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley a Senior Living Residence
2017 in Review The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley A Senior Living Residence Winter 2018 Winter 2017 By Samantha Solyan, Administrator This fall, I gladly accepted the position of Administrator of The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley and thank the Board of Trustees for placing their confidence in me. I have served the residents here at The Ridgewood for eight years, first as a personal care attendant and later as a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 2016, I attended administra- tor training for Personal Care Homes and am happy to put my education and experi- ence into practice to better serve our residents and families. This past year, we celebrated milestone events – our 15th annual Christmas Tea and Family Picnic. These events provide opportunities for residents and their families and friends to enjoy traditional gatherings. Our Chef, Vicky Pregi, and her team do an amazing job of preparing feasts for everyone to enjoy. In 2017, we also hosted our 15th annual Strawberry Festival and Auction – an event designed to attract people to our campus to enjoy its beautiful gathering spaces both indoors and out. In addition, this event raises funds to support our benevolent and unfunded care, for residents at The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley that may not be able to cover all of the costs of their care during their years of residency. Since its inception, this event has been a huge success due to the support of our staff and volunteers. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers and staff. Many family members and friends of The Ridge- wood at Shenango Valley give of their time to support our many activities and events.

SCHAEFER BREWING CO., NEW YORK It has come to our attention lately that certalll une1sy rU/lll)lll1gs have marred the pacific bliss of coeducational intercourse, or, more' properly, non-intercourse, at the Institute. Until now, all the action has been confined to the pages of an obscure campus journal, but it would not be prudent, we think, to ignore the incidents to date as insignifi- cant. Of course, it is no great secret that Tech men place their own co- eds only slightly higher in social esteem, generally, than inanimate ob- jects, and it has rarely occurred that a cooed has confused one of her male colleagues with Prince Charming, but never before. in our recol- lection, has either side publicly denounced the other in words. It would seem that serious consideration on the part of our keener official minds is warranted before this situation gets out of hand. As noted above, it has already been exploited by the baser element of the campus press, and, if unchecked, there's no telling what manner of trouble these glee- ful irrepressibles will foment. The very scheme of coeducation is (lues- tioned.

NOW OFFERING INDEPENDENT SERVICES AND SHORT TERM STAYS The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley is now in its 20th year. We will celebrate our anniversary sometime during 2018.Over the past 20 years, The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley has developed into a premier senior living residence, meeting the needs of countless older adults from Hermitage and surrounding communities. Since 1998, The Ridgewood has offered a variety of accommodation and assistance with daily living activities. Most residents, who move to The Ridgewood, move with the intention of a long-term residency. Staff and management acknowledge that some individuals who inquire at The Ridgewood are independent and don’t need assistance but are interested in supportive services such as meals, housekeeping, and transportation. There is also an attraction to living in an environment where neighbors are close and residents have easy access to staff for emergen- cies or urgent needs.

  • Revitalization of the AM Radio Service ) ) ) )
Before the FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION Washington, DC In the matter of: ) ) Revitalization of the AM Radio Service ) MB Docket 13-249 ) ) COMMENTS OF REC NETWORKS One of the primary goals of REC Networks (“REC”)1 is to assure a citizen’s access to the airwaves. Over the years, we have supported various aspects of non-commercial micro- broadcast efforts including Low Power FM (LPFM), proposals for a Low Power AM radio service as well as other creative concepts to use spectrum for one way communications. REC feels that as many organizations as possible should be able to enjoy spreading their message to their local community. It is our desire to see a diverse selection of voices on the dial spanning race, culture, language, sexual orientation and gender identity. This includes a mix of faith-based and secular voices. While REC lacks the technical knowledge to form an opinion on various aspects of AM broadcast engineering such as the “ratchet rule”, daytime and nighttime coverage standards and antenna efficiency, we will comment on various issues which are in the realm of citizen’s access to the airwaves and in the interests of listeners to AM broadcast band stations. REC supports a limited offering of translators to certain AM stations REC feels that there is a segment of “stand-alone” AM broadcast owners. These owners normally fall under the category of minority, women or GLBT/T2. These owners are likely to own a single AM station or a small group of AM stations and are most likely to only own stations with inferior nighttime service, such as Class-D stations.

  • Ridgewood News Winter Dec2019
It’s hard to believe that very soon we will be celebrating the New Year – 2020! However, it’s also exciting as we think about the possibilities during this New Year for our senior living community – The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley. During 2019, our Board of Trustees took a long, hard look at the changes we are experiencing in health care and aging in our region. Individuals moving to The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley are arriving when they are much older and often times much more frail, having greater needs. We have seen an increase in memory issues in older adults as well as changes in the care that individuals with memory issues require. All of these cause us to evaluate our mission as well as our services and accommodations. Our hope is always to sit in the forefront of the ever-changing needs of our seniors and to be willing to change as the needs and desires of our seniors change. So, in response to the changes we’re witnessing, including increases in dementia and memory issues, we have found it appropriate to Robin Knight, Vice President of Personal advance our senior living community. Care Services & Administrator First, we’ve enhanced our security in and around our building. We have enclosed our courtyard making it more useful and secure for all residents. Our entrances have also received an update in security adding more safety to our building. Our new emergency assistance system has improved the communication for all residents who find they need help from our team. This emergency assistance system makes staff more accessible and quicker to respond.
