FILMS SYNOPSIS 1. Angaadi Theru (English: Market Street) is a 2010 Indian Tamil romantic drama film written and directed by Vasanthabalan, starring debutant Mahesh and Anjali in the lead roles. Story: A story of a young boy whose circumstances forced him to leave his studies and consequentially joins a job in a store where the employees have to work without breaks and then he meets a girl over there who was totally different from the others. 2. Billa is a 2007 Indian Tamil gangster-thriller film directed by Vishnuvardhan Plot: The underworld don David Billa is severely wounded after an accident and dies in front of the DSP. The DSP then secretly holds a burial of Billa. Interpol officer Gokulnath (Rahman) is assigned to work with DSP Jayaprakash to capture elusive Billa as no-one knows of Billa's death. DSP Jayaprakash keeps the death of Billa as a secret even from his fellow officers, and tracks down a look-alike called Saravana Velu (Ajith Kumar), a lowly pick-pocket. He asks Velu to infiltrate Billa's gang by pretending to be Billa 3. Thavamai Thavamirundhu is a 2005 Tamil feature film directed by Cheran. It is a penetrating and artistic depiction of familial bond, underscored by a set of life value messages. Plot: It explores the father-son relationship, and particularly charts the travails an Indian father goes through in raising his sons. The feature was moderately received at the box office compared to Cheran's previous work, Autograph. The film won the National Film Award for Best Film on Family Welfare. 4. Kalloori (English: College) is a Tamil language coming-of-age film film by director Balaji Shakthivel. The movie was produced by S. Shankar's banner S Pictures and the story was based on the college campus featuring Tamannaah and debutant, Akil. Plot: Its story about a gang of college friends, the circumstances how they become best buddies and encourage each other to excel in their life. And a short love story between two friends of the same group. However, circumstances could not let them to propel together on the path of life long journey. 5. Kanchivaram (Tamil) is a 2008 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Priyadarshan. The film stars Prakash Raj and Shriya Reddy in the lead roles and has the musical score by M. G. Sreekumar, cinematography by Tirru, editing by Arun Kumar, and art direction by Sabu Cyril. The audiography was done by M. R. Rajakrishnan. Plot: The movie depicts the pitiable state of the silk weavers in the town of Kanchipuram as they were unorganized and marginalized to live a perpetual ‘hand-to-mouth’ existence. The movie depicts their struggles and ends with a comment about the cooperative movement that emerged to take care of the interests of the workers. 6. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (English: Found a Treasure Called Love) is a 2015 Indian romantic drama film,[6] written and directed by Sooraj Barjatya, produced by Rajshri Productions and distributed by Fox Star Studios. It stars Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles.[7] The cinematography of the movie was done by V. Manikandan and was edited by Sanjay Sankla. The soundtrack was composed by Himesh Reshammiya, and the background music done by Sanjoy Chowdhury. Plot: This is story of a crown Prince who is going to be the king of his Kingdom and his girlfriend Princess. But, he faced a conspiracy against him by his family members which might have left him dead and then how a look alike of the crown Prince struggles to get the prince out of all such situations which might have cost his life. 7. Stanley Ka Dabba (English: Stanley's Tiffin Box) is a 2011 Hindi film written, directed and produced by Amole Gupte, starring Divya Dutta, Partho Gupte (son of Amole Gupte), Divya Jagdale, Raj Zutshi, and Amole Gupte. Plot: It’s a story of an orphan child Stanley studying in Fourth Grade in Holy Family School in Mumbai who got debarred from school by one of his Teachers for not bringing Dabba (Lunch). 8. Raam is a 2005 Indian Tamil Independent mystery drama film written, produced and directed by Ameer. The film stars Jiiva, Gajala and Saranya Ponvannan in lead roles with Kunal Shah, Rahman, Ganja Karuppu and Murali playing supporting roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja Plot: The story revolves around the relationship of a mother and her son, set in Kodaikanal. The movie commences with Rama Krishna (Jiiva) and his mother Saradha (Saranya Ponvannan), a school teacher, lying in a pool of blood; The police find Raam is still alive and arrest him on charges of murdering his mother. Police inspector Umar (Rahman) works on the case. The story is narrated in flashback. 9. Raavanan (English: Ravana) is a 2010 Indian Tamil thriller film, co written, co produced, and directed by Mani Ratnam. The film features Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Prithviraj in the lead roles, with a supporting cast led by Karthik, Prabhu and Priyamani. Plot : The film follows the crux of the epic Ramayana, with a ruthless police officer on the chase to find a tribal leader and lawbreaker, who has kidnapped his wife. Veeraiya, the kidnapper and his motive for the kidnap has been led on by the death of his sister, as a result of police custodial torture and brutal rape. The film explores the search by the officer, whilst exploring the changing emotions that the three protagonists experience with each other, leading to a riveting climax, situated in the jungle. This film is based on stockholm syndrome. 10. Thanga Meenkal (English: Gold Fish) is a 2013 Indian Tamil coming-of-age drama film co written and directed by Ram and story written by Ram and his daughter Shri Sankara Gomathy Ram, Plot: Story of a poor laborer who is devoted to his young daughter, but the child has problems at school with her studies, classmates and teachers. His daughter is a sweet, angelic girl who fares below average in the class, but is all chirpy and gleeful when she is with her father. Without a proper job and an income the tension that prevails in the house forces him to take up a job far away from the reach of his lovely daughter. 11. Vaagai Sooda Vaa (Tamil: வாகை 毂ட வா; English: Come to crown us) is a 2011 Tamil romantic dramedy film directed by A. Sarkunam. Plot: Story about a guy who is driven by the pride of having gained high education, wants nothing less than a government job. Due to compulsion, he finds himself in a village educating the children of people working in the brick kilns. In between, in the same village a girl, falls in love with him but he fails to recognise it. 12. Kuttram Kadithal (English: The Punishment) is a 2015 Tamil independent drama film written and directed by newcomer Bramma G Produced by J Satish Kumar and Christy Siluvappan Plot: The film explores an interesting spectrum of lifestyles and how one unexpected incident influences people from diverse lifestyles. The title of the film is derived from the 44th adhikaaram (chapter) of the Thirukkural, where Thiruvalluvar alludes to avoiding mistakes. 13. Periyar (Tamil) is a 2007 Tamil biographical film, made about the life of the social reformer and rationalist Periyar E. V. Ramasamy [1] with Sathyaraj who himself is a rationalist in the lead role. This movie was partly funded by the then Tamil Nadu government headed by Karunanidhi. .
