SEASON ARC The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is one of the largest police forces in the world, but when the elected Sheriff dies, an arcane rule in the county charter, forged back in the Wild West, suddenly thrusts the most unlikely man into the job. That man is Bill Hollister (Dorff). A fifth- generation lawman, Bill is only interested in justice; his soul wears a white hat. The bad guys don’t stand a chance, but neither do the politicos in the Hall of Justice. Under Bill’s command is a county-wide crew of LA’s finest, including Deputy Cade Ward (Brian Van Holt, The Bridge), a former Marine stationed in Afghanistan, eight years sober and one of Bill’s few confidantes; Deputy Brianna Bishop (Bex Taylor-Klaus, The Killing, 13 Reasons Why), the whip-smart, sarcastic driver in charge of Bill’s security detail; Deputy Joseph Harris (Shane Paul McGhie, What Men Want), the son of Bill’s fallen partner; and Deputy Charlie Minnick (Danielle Moné Truitt, Rebel) a former teacher who joined the sheriff’s department after enduring a tragedy. The dangers associated with the job often lead the police to LA County General Hospital, where Bill butts heads with Dr. Paula Reyes (Yara Martinez, Jane the Virgin), the hospital’s chief trauma surgeon – and his wife. SHERIFF BILL HOLLISTER’S JOURNEY Given a job he never wanted, in an unfamiliar sea of politics, Bill quickly learns that doing what is expected and doing what is right are two different things, and that his innate, dogged pursuit of justice is the only skill the job truly requires. Throughout the first season, we will watch the ripple effect of Bill’s new position as Sheriff of Los Angeles County. He’ll face obstacles, both personal and professional and there will be both moments of victories and moments of setbacks. As a street cop, Bill has always had thoughts about the leadership of the Sheriff’s department – now he is the leadership. He thinks the department has lost its way, and this is his opportunity to fix it. Bill has 108 days to effect change – and he’ll take big swings to do so, without considering the fallout. Eventually, policies he thought would be embraced by the public and the LASD end up creating turmoil… Bill’s goals as Sheriff weren’t that different than his goals as a street cop – to catch bad guys and protect the innocent.
