He joins forces with a tech billionaire and the U.S. government to try and stop it, and they stumble onto a gigantic con- spiracy. Everyone was going about their daily lives and some were even considering what to do after college. However, one MIT Grad student had come across something he never expected to find. He had seem- ingly been creating a map of space that’s primary function was supposed to de- tailed any significant changes though the one day it decided to finally work it had picked up on a huge asteroid that was heading straight for Earth. So Liam Cole had known what that would mean and he had gone to his professor just to double- check his findings. Though the professor hadn’t been too sure about what Liam had found. He had thought that it could be another dud and had asked for time to look things over that night yet whatever the professor found must have been conclusive because he didn’t show up to school the next day and his house had been found trashed. So Liam had tried to call it and get the police to take his concerns seriously except the operator thought he was drugs and he hadn’t the time to argue with her. Some goons in a back SUV had started chasing him and there was only on place eh thought he could hide. Liam had remembered that the famous tech genius Darius Tanz was in town and that he was staying a hotel near the campus. So Liam knew that if he could just get close enough to Darius 3 Salvation Episode Guide that the goons would stop chasing him and he could possibly talk Darius into hearing him out. Yet, throwing himself into Darius’s elevator had set the billionaire’s security team on him and so Liam had had to explain fast. He said that there was an asteroid heading to earth in 185 days and that it would destroy everything. Liam had go on to describe as a planet killer and he had all his data backed up on a flash drive in case Darius didn’t believe him. But Darius did have a reason to believe the young grad student. He had recently been asked by the DOD to expedite a nuclear he was building for them and he figured out pretty quickly that they must have asked for it so soon in order to use against the asteroid. So Darius grabbed Liam and the two went to go see the Deputy of Defense who Darius knew personally and assumed wouldn’t lie to them. So Darius’s assumption turned out to be right. He had gotten answers Harris Edwards and he hadn’t been the only one because Harris’s press secretary had also been brought into the loop as well. Grace Burrows had spent the couple of months making excuses in the press for one thing or another and so she had been surprised to find out that this entire time she had been covering up an asteroid. But what had made the surprise hurt had been the fact that she was also Harris’s girlfriend and the two were discussing a future together all the while he kept world-ending secret to himself. Grace still worked for him however and so she hadn’t let her own panic show as Harris began telling Darius and Liam about NASA’s plans. He said that NASA had quickly realized the nukes would still cause damage if they were to fragment the asteroid and that the plan was a second option. With the first option being a satellite that would change the gravitational pull and force the asteroid on a course away from earth. So Harris had assured the group that they had everything well in hand and that there was no need to share of this with the public. Harris had explained that it would only cause mass panic and that they were going to solve the problem anyways. However, neither Darius nor Liam truly believed a word Harris said. So Darius decided to come up with a plan. He had thrown a party and had invited everyone in the area including both Harris and Grace. And he had done all of that in order to get a chance to pitch an idea to Grace. Grace had a high-level clearance and access to both information as well as resources he might need. So Darius had wanted Grace to spy for him. He told her that the government’s plan was going to work and that Harris wouldn’t tell her about it even if she was his girlfriend because he was bureaucrat before anything else. Though while Grace had been surprised that Darius had learned the truth about her and Harris, she had also wanted to know if he had a plan of his own and he did. Darius has been working on building an ark for years. The ark was a ship that was designed to take 160 souls as well as both animal and plant life to Mars where the hope was that they would eventually colonize the plan. Darius had said that he had done the calculations and that 160 people were all he needed to rebuild the human race, but he said with more resources he could possible increase that number to thousands rather than hundreds. Yet, Grace and Liam hadn’t felt comfortable with merely saving hundreds. They had wanted Darius to come up with a plan that would everyone. But Darius told them that he didn’t have a plan for that and so the others couldn’t stand to sign up. Both Grace and Liam had told Darius that they wouldn’t help him with his plan and then the two had walked off. So Darius was going to go ahead with his plan on his own except Liam and Grace realized that they couldn’t just give up. Liam had felt bad about walking away without thinking about the better good and so he had gone back to work with Darius however Grace later had realized that Darius was right about NASA’s plan. She had been told by Harris that the practice run was a success though she had also been wise enough to check it out for herself and had found out that the rocket had instead crashed. So she remembered her daughter that had recently graduated and she decided that she wanted to fight for Zoe and everyone’s else futures. However, she didn’t want to follow through with Darius plan. She had gone back to his office and had told him that rather than flee that maybe he should come up with the tech that would stop the asteroid. So the three had come together to work on saving earth and they knew that certain things would have to be sacrificed..

WRITER’S GUIDE 2004 Season 3 Created for Television by Michael Piller & Shawn Piller Based on characters from the Stephen King novel Copyright © 2004 Lions Gate Television. All rights reserved. No portion of this document may be performed, published, sold or distributed by any means, or quoted or published in any medium, including on any web site, without prior written consent. Disposal of this script copy does not alter any of the restrictions set forth above. WRITER’S GUIDE 2004 Season 3 INTRODUCTION A few to-dos before you come in to pitch. 1. Watch the pilot. 2. Read the book by Stephen King. 3. Watch the episode “Destiny”, our first season cliffhanger. 4. Watch Frank Capra’s Meet John Doe. 5. Watch Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ. Some don’ts: 1. Although Johnny should help someone in most every story, we don’t want this to become “Touched by an Angel”. We must find interesting, unique and fresh ways to tell stories. No preaching please. Find the unexpected twist. 2. Don’t pitch story arcs that run multiple episodes. What we need from you are self-contained stories. 3. We do not want to hear any pitches based on previously seen material -- whether film or television. Those kinds of story ideas occur to everybody -- including The Dead Zone staff. Johnny Smith is a fresh and unusual character, never before seen on television. We want fresh and unusual story concepts that likewise have not been seen on television. If it can be said of an idea "Star Trek did that" -- or "Buffy" or "The X-Files" or "Twilight Zone" -- then that is not an idea you should pitch.

Archive Study Guide: LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER TELEVISION: SITCOMS AND EPISODIC DRAMAS ARCHIVE STUDY GUIDE The representation of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) communities on television is marked by a history of stereotypes and inexplicable invisibility. By the 1970s, gay media-watch groups communicated their concerns to the television industry and a sense of cooperation began to emerge between the LG BT community and broadcasters. During the 1980s, the AIDS crisis and resulting prejudices ushered in a new era of problematic and offensive portrayals. In the late 1990s, Ellen Degeneres' landmark coming out, (both in real- life, and through the character she portrayed in her sitcom), generated much controversy and discussion, ultimately paving the way for well -developed gay characters in prominent primetime TV roles. Despite such advances, stereotypes continue to resurface and perpetuate, and the full diversity of the LGBT community is more often than not underrepresented in the mass media. Sooter replaces Mark Moses, who for the past seven years was holding the position in addition to his role as assistant commissioner of administration. Moses will continue to serve as assistant commissioner, supervising all operations of the Office of State Buildings and the State Land Office in addition to facility planning oversight. “Jason has a wealth of experience in construction management and design, particularly in the higher education and health care spaces. Burrows Submitted in fulfillment of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Sussex, May 2014 3 University of Sussex Karen K. Burrows Escaping the Honeytrap: Representations and Ramifications of the Female Spy on Television Since 1965 Summary My thesis interrogates the changing nature of the espionage genre on Western television since the middle of the Cold War. It uses close textual analysis to read the progressions and regressions in the portrayal of the female spy, analyzing where her representation aligns with the achievements of the feminist movement, where it aligns with popular political culture of the time, and what happens when the two factors diverge. I ask what the female spy represents across the decades and why her image is integral to understanding the portrayal of gender on television. I explore four pairs of television shows from various eras to demonstrate the importance of the female spy to the cultural landscape.
