Delmar thinks GREEN For a while now Delmar has slowly been going green. Initially, we started with a paper recycling initiative in the Montreal office. Then we prepared a series of TV Commercials having an environmental theme, for airing on national television. Most recently, we have added a special environmental section to the company website which may be visited at www.delmarcargo.com/green. This area also includes links to organizations and places which we believe are acting to make a difference. Delmar has recently introduced the ’Delmar Eco Bag ’which we hope is destined to replace some percentage of those plastic grocery bags which persist in our environment We invite all members of the Delmar family to contribute their suggestions or ideas to our newsletter on how we as a company can act smarter in this time of heightened environmental awareness Delmar International(China) Inc. Dalian office took part in The 7th Dalian International Walking Festival. Delmar International (China) Inc. Dalian Branch has a staff of 12 with over 90% of these individuals having over 5 years experience in the freight forwarding sector. We are a young group, the average age being 34, so in our spare time, we organize hiking, ocean swimming, picnics and so on. On May 23, 2009, we participated in the 7th Dalian International Walking Festival on Dalian Xinghai Square . The slogan was “National Fitness and go with the Olympics”, promoting a further development of walking activities among Dalian citizens. It was a fun day, being our second time in joining the festival. We all set our wearing the same uniform, holding the banner with Delmar’s logo. Our route is called Binhailu as it follows the coast and full of beautiful scenes. The participants have become more and more numerous since the 1st year and it also includes many foreign walkers. Most of the foreigners are members of IML(http://www.imlwalking.org/) which is an international walking association. People come from Netherland, Scotland, Norway, Russia, Japan etc .There was a funny incident: when a Russian team sang the song "the Night of Moscow Suburb" while passing a Chinese team of elders, the Chinese team sang the song with them, but in Chinese! It was a cute scene which symbolizes the historic friendship between China and Russia. As reported in the press, participants numbered around 200,000 that day. Our team finished the 10Km in 3 hours and we all felt comfortable at the walks end. About Dalian Dalian is located in Liaoning province, China, at the southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula. It has a population of 6.0 million, and is the only port city in the northeastern region of China, serving as a gateway to the provinces of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang. Dalian's nearest international neighbours are Japan and Korea, and it enjoys close commercial and cultural links with both countries. With its beautiful coastal scenery and fresh ocean breezes, Dalian has developed as a major tourist destination and is known as the "Vancouver of China". It truly is one of China's most exceptional cities. Dalian is northeastern China's premier city, and serves as the commercial hub for the region. It is the only port city in Liaoning province, and is linked to the major rail and road networks of the entire northeastern market and, via shipping lines, to major global ports. It is the gateway to the whole vast hinterland which stretches north to the Russian border, northwest to Mongolia, and east to Korea. • Perched on the Liáodōng Peninsula and Bordering the Yellow Sea, Dàlián
Perched on the Liáodōng Peninsula and bordering the Yellow Sea, Dàlián (大连) is one of the most relaxing and livable cities in the northeast, if not all of China. Tree-lined hilly streets with manageable traffic and fresh air, a surfeit of early 20th-century architecture and an impressive coastline, complete with swimming beaches, are just some of its charms. Toss in a decent restaurant-and-bar scene and serious shopping, and that frequent Dàlián epithet, the ‘Hong Kong of the North’, looks like more than just bluster. The impression Dalian gives to the world is of a city of lawns, squares, fountains and gardens. People say it is 'A City Built in Gardens'. Running from downtown there is a 40-kilometer (25-mile) road known as Binhai Lu winding along the coastline, northeast to southwest. This coastal area is a paradise for beach vacationers. The famous scenic spots of Bangchuidao Scenic Area, Tiger Beach Ocean Park, Jinshitan Scenic Area and Xinghai Square are scattered around this region. In addition to the stunning cliffs and scenic parks, numerous places along the coastline are good for beach resort visitors and water sports lovers. Meanwhile, you can sample the authentic Dalian-style seafood in a fisherman's house at an incredibly low price. Besides, there is a large entertainment park - Discoveryland Theme Park, inside Jinshitan Scenic Area, where you can feel the excitement of adventures. Zhongshan District, originally the colonial residential area of the Russians and containing Nicholas Square, (Zhongshan Square) is a bustling downtown area of the city. The square (Zhongshan Square) has ten avenues radiating from it and is one of the most famous squares in the city.

Overseas Report-Part 3 [Special Feature: Overseas Report-Part 3] Showcasing the Business Bases in our East Asia Region Introduction to NEXTY Electronics in East Asia Region Message from Managing Director I’m Ryota Suganuma and I was appointed to this position in the East Asia Region in April 2018. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our business partners for their continued generous support. The East Asia Region coverage area encompasses China, Taiwan, South Korea and Vietnam (as shown on the right-hand page). The entire staff of the East Asia Region of Toyota Tsusho NEXTY Electronics are as one committed striving to offer products and services to our customers that deliver even greater value, and we ask for your ongoing patronage. While we do business under the trading name "NEXTY Electronics” in Japan, the trading name for our offshore operations is“ Toyota Tsusho NEXTY Electronics” and I would like to explain the reasoning Managing Director, East Asia Region behind this. When deciding on the new company name to be used in the East Asia region, we debated which Ryota Suganuma of the following two approaches to take: "Focus on the pronunciation/sound of the name (Naidai )” or "Focus on the meaning (Next generation/leading-edge technologies*).” As the result of including the managerial-level national staff working in the region who serve as our point of contact with customers, it was decided to choose to incorporate the Chinese characters meaning next generation electronics "NEXTY Electronics” into the trading name used in this region. And, we combined "Toyota Tsusho” as we are a member of the Toyota Tsusho group and "NEXTY Electronics” taking on board the will of the people working in the business locally to use Chinese characters to incorporate the meaning not just the sound of the name, thus creating the trading name Toyota Tsusho NEXTY Electronics to be used in this region.

  • Waterfront Development: a Case Study of Dalian, China
Waterfront Development: A Case Study of Dalian, China by Lina Dong A thesis presented to the University of Waterloo in fulfillment of the thesis requirement for the degree of Master of Applied Environmental Studies in Local Economic Development - Tourism Policy and Planning Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, 2004 © Lina Dong 2004 I hereby declare that I am the sole author of this thesis. This is a true copy of the thesis, including any required final revisions, as accepted by my examiners. I understand that my thesis may be made electronically available to the public. ii Abstract Waterfront development has been an issue of wide concern and extensive discussion since the 1970s. This study provides more insight into the phenomenon by applying the existing knowledge to a different political and economic context. A “phased model” is proposed as a “prototype” of waterfront development. It analyzes waterfront development as a series of five temporal stages, i.e. pre-start-up, start-up, early development, mega projects and maturity. Each of the phases is characterized by the involvement of specific stakeholders, issues and events, and outcomes. A trend in the input of stakeholders is discerned: Trends in the inputs of three stakeholders, the municipal government, the special purpose agencies and the private sector, are discerned whereby initial government investments are complemented and eventually exceeded by investments from the private sector. Analyses of three sites in Dalian’s (in Northeast China) waterfront development suggest that all three sites fit appropriately into the phase model. This suggests the applicability of western theory to cases elsewhere in a different political and economic context.
