Our Inside this issue: trip to Canada this spring was a tremendous opportunity for our program. This trip would not have been possible without your gifts to our program. Our Pioneer Football Golf Classic was a huge success. We had 136 golfers in attendance which was a tournament high. Please save the date for next year’s classic; Saturday June 23, 2012 at Message from Coach Stonebridge Golf Course and Country Club. 1 Faggiano Our coaching staff and friends of football recently participated in the Big John Kaczmarksi Me- morial Golf Tournament at Harvest Hill Golf Course in Orchard Park, NY. Over 120 were in atten- dance raising money for Utica College in the form of a scholarship in Big John’s name. I want to thank the Kaczmarski Family for their continued support of Utica College Football. I do want to welcome two new coaches to our staff. Bob McCann comes to us from Ilion HS Pioneers Abroad 2 where he has served as their athletic director as well as their head football coach. Bob is part-time and will coach our running backs. Seth Williams comes to us from SJFC where he was an offensive assistant. Seth is a graduate-assistant football coach and will coach our TE’s and serve as our aca- demic coordinator. Our program enters the 2012 season as experienced and as strong as ever.

    The Gridiron Report Winter 2010 2009 Utica College Football Season Review A Message from Coach Blaise Faggiano Dear alumni, parents, and friends, Inside this issue: As a team, the 2009 edition of the Pioneers broke 23 single season school records on the offensive side of the ball. Just to name a few – rushing touchdowns, passing touchdowns and total scoring. This past season the Pioneers scored 118 more points than any other team in program-history. The Pioneer defense broke the school record for quarterback sacks in a single season with 23. The Pioneers lost three games by a com- Message from Coach 1 bined total of 10 points. This team was just ten points away from a 7-3 record. The season ended with the Faggiano following individual honors. • Andrew Benkwitt was the first player in school-history to be named the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year and also the ECAC Division III Rookie of the Year. Pioneer Progress Report 2 • Cody Elliot, Pete Vano and Eric Kahl were the first three players in school-history selected to play in post- season senior all-star games. Blue & Orange Club • The Pioneers had six players named to Empire 8 All Conference Teams. 2 • Senior kicker Casey McNulty will graduate as the College’s all-time scoring leader with 109 career points. At one point, UC was leading the nation in scoring with an average of 59.67 points per game. Utica broke several school-records in- Message from Coach cluding points in a single game (78), pass completions (231), passing and receiving yards 1 Faggiano (2,742), passing yards per game (274.2), total offensive yards (4,007), total yards of of- fense per game (400.7), all purpose yards (5,049), total tackles (805) and quarterback sacks (24). Nine Pioneers received Empire 8 All-Conference Honors.
