Kemal Karaosmanoğlu Fatih Taşçı Abstract Symbtr Symbolic Corpus for Turkish Makam Music and Preliminary Studies on it In this article, a symbolic corpus has been introduced that allows studying the Turkish makam music in the context of the computational musicology research. Also its content and format were described. This corpus, named Symbtr, contains both classical Turkish music and Turkish folk music pieces, but they have different pitch systems, so format of the corpus is designed to be able to express pieces in these two repertoires. In this paper, information about these two branches of Turkish makam music is given. There are 2200 pieces in SymbTr, and each of them is in symbolic text, graphics and MIDI formats. Therefore, the paper contains information about accidental symbols used in music Turkish makam music printed scores, the MIDI standard and the conversion rules between Cent and Holder comma units. SymbTr corpus was announced in an international conference about music information retrieval two years ago, and since that time several studies and presentations were done and articles have been published. This paper is not only a translation the original article into Turkish. Additionally it includes i) extensions to the format for project requirements about melodic analysis, and ii) Turkish sum- maries of articles mentioned above which almost entirely written in English.
