Bibliography 54 Executive Summary 1 Executive Summary “It rises above the banks of the river like a solitary tear suspended on the cheek of time.” – Rabindranath Tagore on Taj Mahal India is a fascinating land, referred to as “next to heaven” owing to her rich heritage, culture and natural habitat; so much so that she never fails to astound any traveler across any part of the country. Specially, Uttar Pradesh is viewed as the heart of India hence is also known as the heartland of India. On January 26, 1950, when India became a republic, the state was given its present name, Uttar Pradesh (literally, “Northern State”). Its capital is Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh is known for its rich culture and tradition. Ayodhya and Mathura are the birthplace of Lord Rama and Lord Krishna respectively, which are located here in Uttar Pradesh. UP attracts a large number of both national and international tourists. Uttar Pradesh certainly has the largest number of tourist-worthy spots as compared to any State in India. Uttar Pradesh is not only an attraction for domestic tourists but it also attracts a large number of foreign tourists. It has a rich mix of heritage, wildlife and religious tourist spots. The following table shows the % share of domestic tourism during the year 2013. In terms of Domestic tourism, Uttar Pradesh stands at 2nd rank having 13.3% share of domestic tourism after Tamil Nadu. 02 | Uttar Pradesh-The Northern Spectacle S. Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Fort. Apart from this it is well known for its religious places in form of Varanasi, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Ayodhya and Mathura. It is also home to numerous wildlife sanctuaries and parks. Most Visited Places Uttar Pradesh is popular for its historical monuments and places of religious significance. It attracts tourists from all over the world for its heritage, religious history, wildlife and ecosystem. It is also blessed with the presence of Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The most visited places in Uttar Pradesh are the following: 1. Allahabad 2. Ayodhya 3. Govardhan 4. Agra 5. Mathura 6. Chitrakut 7. Varanasi 8. Lucknow 9. Vrindavan 10. Radhakund Emerging Products and Places UP Government is stressing on tapping this Heritage and Eco tourism in different parts of the state. The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government plans to advance Eco-Tourism in the state. 05 | Uttar Pradesh-The Northern Spectacle The Eco-Tourism, produced by the state's Forest and Wildlife, is imagined to be outfitted with world-class offices along the National Highway passing through the area and would be utilized by vacationers and local people alike. A financial plan of Rs. 5 Crore each has been dispensed to create the zones of Lion Safari, Etawah and Dudhwa National Park. Also. the government has started 'Van Mahotsav' which included planting 3.15 lakh trees in 80 recognized destinations. Tourism Circuits Uttar Pradesh has tremendous untapped tourist potential and attracts tourists from all over the world for its heritage, religious history &, wildlife an ecosystem. Chief Minister Mr. Akhilesh Yadav has announced the Heritage Arc comprising Agra-Lucknow-Varanasi. Now Government is taking steps like proper lighting of heritage sites, development in terms of infrastructure etc. which would make these places more accessible and safe. Uttar Pradesh State is a partner in NSS surveys since 9th round (1955), generally on equal matching basis of samples. The present report on "A Report on ‘Domestic Tourism Expenditure’ In Uttar Pradesh" is based on the result of pooled data of central and state sample of Uttar Pradesh. National Statistical Commission constituted a professional committee under the Chairmanship of Prof. R.Radhakrishna, to identify the preconditions for pooling of Central and State Sample NSS data, to suggest appropriate methodology for pooling the data and to bridge the data gaps and in turn strengthen the database for decentralized planning and governance. The necessity for pooling the Central and State sample data arose due to the growing need for improving the precision of estimates of policy parameters such as the labour force participation, level of living and well being, incidence of poverty, State Domestic Product (SDP), District Domestic Product(DDP) etc., and for strengthening the database at district level required for decentralized governance. Accordingly the NSC professional committee has recommended certain poolability tests and the methodologies for pooling of Central and State sample data of NSS. In the workshop which was held on 19th and 20thSeptember 2018 at Kolkata, it was demonstrated about the poolability tests and pooling the two sets of data and estimating the parameters based on two methods- (1) Matching ratio method and (2) Inverse Weight of the Variance of estimates method.

This encourages international connections, markets expanding, broad-based jobs and income production, as a source and effect of economic growth. The tourist sector is a major contributor to many nations 'gross national products. This is among the world's fastest-growing sectors. Today, a commonly known trend is the promotion of vacation attractions and the travel infrastructure. Investment in tourist infrastructure boosts economic development, catalyses income and job generation, which in turn contributes to more development in tourism demand, which induces a corresponding investment cycle within a virtuous ring.Expenditure on tourism produces numerous impacts in the value chain, with robust outreach. In addition to the need for a range of goods and services, tourism also provides opportunities for the relevant industries.The Tourism Growth Policy itself can be an instrument for positive economic and social change.Tourism supports social harmony and connection with the group. It encourages the restoration and conservation by adding importance to history, heritage, climate, atmosphere and ecology.In this paper various consideration points of touring have been mentioned. Enormous increase in number of vehicles has resulted in increased emission of air pollutants and, as a result, levels of air pollutants such as respirable suspended particulate matter are found to exceed the prescribed standards in these cities. The Honorable Supreme Court has also identified sixteen cities in addition to Delhi for which action plans are being formulated and implemented to control air pollution. An attempt has been made in this report to address the pollution problem in these seventeen cities namely Agra, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Faridabad, Hyderabad, Jharia, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Pune, Solapur and Varanasi. Trends of air pollutants are determined to find the effects of various actions taken so far to control air pollution. Action plans as developed by respective State Governments have also been covered.     Preface Pilgrimage places like Varanasi, Prayag, Haridwar and Vrindavan have always got prominent place in any pilgrimage of the devotees and its importance is well known. Many mythological stories are associated to these places. Though Orissa had many temples, historical places and natural scenic beauty spot, but it did not get so much prominence. This may be due to the lack of connectivity. Buddhism and Jainism flourished there followed by Shaivaism and Vainavism. After reading the lives of Sri Chaitanya, Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and direct disciples we come to know the importance and spiritual significance of these places. Holy Mother and many disciples of Sri Ramakrishna had great time in Orissa. Many are blessed here by the vision of Lord Jagannath or the Master. The lives of these great souls had shown us a way to visit these places with spiritual consciousness and devotion. Unless we read the life of Sri Chaitanya we will not understand the life of Sri Ramakrishna properly. Similarly unless we study the chapter in the lives of these great souls in Orissa we will not be able to understand and appreciate the significance of these places. If we go on pilgrimage to Orissa with same spirit and devotion as shown by these great souls, we are sure to be benefited spiritually. This collection will put the light on the Orissa chapter in the lives of these great souls and will inspire the devotees to read more about their lives in details. This will also help the devotees to go to pilgrimage in Orissa and strengthen their devotion.

This thesis focuses on two sites, Sarnath and Bodhgaya, which have been subject to contestations that precede the nation-state’s efforts at gaining economic revenue. The Hindu-Buddhist dispute over the Buddha’s image, the Saivite occupation of the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya, and Anagarika Dharmapala’s attempts at reclaiming several Buddhist sites in India have led to conflicting views, motivations, and interpretations. For the purpose of this thesis, I identify the primary national and transnational stakeholders who have contributed to differing views about the sacred geography of Buddhism in India.

THE MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF OVERSEAS INDIAN AFFAIRS (SHRIMATI SUSHMA SWARAJ): On the issue which was raised yesterday in the House, I, with utmost responsibility and categorically and equivocally would like to inform this House that the Government of India has no connection to the visit by Shri Ved Prakash Vaidik to Pakistan or his meeting with Hafiz Saeed there. Neither before leaving for Pakistan nor at his arrival there, he informed the Government that he was to meet Hafiz Saeed there. This was his purely private visit and meeting. It has been alleged here that he was somebody‟s emissary, somebody‟s disciple or the Government of India had facilitated the meeting. This is totally untrue as well as unfortunate. I would like to reiterate that the Government of India has no relation to it whatsoever. *MATTERS UNDER RULE 377 (i) SHRI BHARAT SINGH laid a statement regarding need to start work on multipurpose project for development of various facilities in Ballia Parliamentary constituency, Uttar Pradesh.
