Principal — Mr M Brown Oasis Academy Sholing 023 8044 8861 29th August 2020 Dear parents, Arrangements for the return to school I hope you and your family have had a peaceful summer. I am writing to you to update you on our plans for the safe reopening of Oasis Academy Sholing for all students. I wrote to you at the end of the summer term with details of our planned arrangements for the return of students. You can find this letter on our website, or by clicking here. The letter is dated 15th July 2020 and there is a separate letter per year group. https://www.oasisacademysholing.org/news-and-events/letters-home Whilst the majority of the arrangements in the letter remain unchanged, I wanted to provide you with some updated information on the following areas. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) On 25th August, the Government issued updated guidance on the use of face coverings in education. In recent days, leaders within Oasis have given a lot of thought about how best to implement this guidance to ensure that all members of our academy community remain safe when school reopens. The safety of our staff, students and families remains our number one priority. As such, upon arriving for their first day back at school, Oasis will provide every child with a reusable face covering for their personal use. This face covering will be provided free of charge and is only for use in school. Until further notice, it will be treated as a vital part of Academy uniform and students will be expected to use it at key times during the Academy day. As part of welcoming your child back to the Academy and inducting them to the new routines and safety measures outlined, they will receive full training and instruction on the expectations on the use of their masks. As an additional safety measure, Oasis has also provided all staff with a reusable covering and a visor. Staff will wear these at key points in the day for everyone’s safety. Hygiene Hygiene remains an essential part of a safe return. Students and staff will be required to wash their hands thoroughly upon arrival at school, before and after eating, and after break times. Students will have access to a sink for handwashing. We will also have hand sanitiser dispensers in all classrooms, at all receptions, all entrances and exits, hall and first aid rooms. You may consider providing your child with a personal bottle of hand sanitiser. This is especially important if your child has a skin condition or an allergy that may mean the standard sanitiser we make available is inappropriate.     Admissions Policy 2021/2022 Admissions Policy – Oasis Academy Sholing 2021-2022 1 Introduction 1.1 This document sets out the admission arrangements for Oasis Academy Sholing. Throughout this document referred to as “the Academy”. These arrangements are without prejudice to the provisions of Annex 3 to the Master Funding Agreement. 1.2 Any changes to the arrangements set out in this document must be approved in advance by the Secretary of State. 1.3 Oasis Academy Sholing is a non-selective school open to students of all religious faiths or those of no faith. 2 School Admissions Code/ School Admissions Appeal Code 2.1 The Academy will comply with all relevant provisions of the statutory codes of practice (the School Admissions Code of Practice and the School Admission Appeals Code of Practice) as they apply at any given time to maintained schools and with the law on admissions as it applies to maintained schools. 2.2 Reference in the codes to admission authorities shall be deemed to be references to Oasis Community Learning. References to “the Local Authority” (LA) shall be deemed to be references to the Southampton City Council. In particular, the Academy will take part in the Admissions Forum set up by the LA and have regard to its advice; and will participate in the co-ordinated admission arrangements operated by the LA. 2.3 Notwithstanding these arrangements, the Secretary of State may direct the Academy to admit a named student to the Academy on application from an LA. Before doing so the Secretary of State will consult the Academy.

SEF work reaches 15,000 young people across Southampton and is one of the largest, most coordinated movements of educators in the South of England. SEF was created more than a decade ago (then a traditional 14-19 consortium), as an alliance of leaders who actively champion education in the City. SEF was re-shaped in 2012 in response to the changing needs of the group and through the evolution to 'mixed-economy' education. SEF members represent secondary to university level education from providers across the City and include key civic partners from Southampton City Council. Primary education is also represented on the SEF Executive by Amanda Talbot-Jones (Headteacher and Chair of Southampton Primary Headteacher Group). At its heart, SEF provides a comprehensive source of learning through sharing. The group 'thinks-and-links' policy into practice and collectively exchanges ideas to improve teaching and leadership across the City. SEF also provides a valuable personal support for its members. SEF makes a strong contribution to the educational profile of Southampton and Hampshire and our group is highly regarded by local and regional leaders. We are current partners with the Institute for Group Analysis (IGA) who challenge our thinking and deepen understanding across our diverse group through a psychotherapeutic lens. This approach offers Southampton leaders the edge in managing themselves in a rapidly changing education sector.
