This chapter of El Ran- cho’s sweetest, kindest, and most “mom-like” teachers has concluded. Fortunately, Mrs. Anna Garcia’s next chapter in her life is a new start: retirement! Garcia went to Cal State Los Angeles and majored in Chicano Studies. Although, she almost majored in Eng- lish, Spanish, and psychology. Garcia has been teaching at El Rancho for 31 years but has taught overall for 36 years. When she first began teach- ing it was not at all intentional. “I never wanted to become a teacher. I wanted to go into the medical field or dancing, but back then there was no money for dancing.
