GREEN AESTHETICS in CLOTHING Normative Beauty in Commodities
2014 | Volume III, Issue 3 | Pages 3.1-3.13 GREEN AESTHETICS IN CLOTHING Normative beauty in commodities Kirsi Niinimäki, Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture 1.0 ABSTRACT this widened approach we gain better understand- This paper presents an approach to understand- ing of the meaning of aesthetics in our everyday ing green aesthetics in clothing and design-for- life, our judgments and preferences, and moreover sustainability that unifies existing theories and how aesthetic issues profoundly affect all and describes aspects of green aesthetics. The aim of everything. Ossi Naukkarinen (2001) distinguishes this paper is to define the dimensions of aesthetic philosophical aesthetics from everyday aesthetics perception in design and commodities, and while such that the former analyzes aesthetic dimensions doing so the focus is on green aesthetics in cloth- while the latter tacitly describes and creates aes- ing. Hence the approach is made on the basis of thetic dimensions and values. Richard Shusterman aesthetic discourse yet with a multidisciplinary (1997, p. 103) argues (based on Dewey) that there is view. The study first constructs an understanding no reason to distinguish popular art from higher art of clothing aesthetics in general: the definition according to aesthetic principles or evaluation. On and understanding ‘thin’ aesthetics in the context this basis, he proposes, we can also demand high of clothing, which combines product properties, aesthetical quality from design artifacts. Hence it is multilayered pleasure experiences, and creativity most important to study contemporary aesthetics in elements. Secondly the study lays the ground for the design discourse. defining green aesthetics, a ‘thick’ aesthetic evalu- ation based on environmental aesthetics. -

Sport Industry in Rural China
2018 4th International Conference on Social Science and Management (ICSSM 2018) ISBN: 978-1-60595-190-4 Sport Industry in Rural China: Development Momentum, Characteristics, and Strategy: A Field Study of the City of Jinhua, Zhejiang Province Yun-Xia DING Physical Department, Zhejiang College of Sports, Hangzhou, 311231, Zhejiang Province, China [email protected] Keywords: Sports; Revitalize rural areas; China. Abstract. This paper takes ten sports characteristic villages in Jinhua of Zhejiang province as the research object, uses the scientific research methods such as literature and field follow-up investigation, analyzes the present situation of the sports development of these villages, and then puts forward the concept of the sports village. The paper holds that the sports characteristic village has distinct features such as cultural inheritance, resource dependence, content difference and fusion innovation. The inherent development needs, the natural and cultural environment, the dynamic choice of urban tourists and the government's support policies are the formation and development forces of sports characteristics villages. There remains dilemmas in the case such as the top design is not enough, the theoretical system is not existing, industrial structure is convergent, characteristics advantages are not obvious. We suggest the government to strengthen the scientific and standardized layout, to seek accurate development orientation, to emphasize the center of sports services as well as to explore special lines of sports characteristic villages on space diffusion patterns and laws. Introduction The function of sports in China has witnessed multiple shifts in different historical contexts. Over the past decades, it has been utilized to elevate China's international standing, improve the national physical fitness, and rejuvenate Chinese ethos. -

Abstract This research aimed at investigating the foundation and environment that surrounded the government directive to the public to wear African clothes every Friday. It sought to unearth information on the status of the fashion industry in Kenya. Data was collected from media reports, internet sources and available literature coupled with information from the Kenya Fashion Council, in which the author serves as a council member. The findings indicate that Kenya, does not have a strong indigenous textile production history and depends on fabric mainly from West Africa; designers used cultural, style, handcrafted finishes and natural fabrics in their fashion products; and, government, models, institutions and red carpet events are important to the industry growth. The failure of the Kenya national dress was due to several factors, including omission of the Maasai shuka. The Kenya Fashion Council is expected to mobilize resources necessary to develop a vibrant fashion industry. Keywords: Fashion designers, African fabric, Kenya national dress, Maasai shuka, Kenya Fashion Council. INTRODUCTION and European markets coupled with influx of In October 2019, the Kenya Government issued cheaper second hand clothes imports. It was seen a directive that all public officers wear African that an organized fashion industry would see garments every Friday. -

Volumen 10, Número 1 Otoño, 2018 Black Markets, Foreign Clothing, Identity Construction in Contemporary Urban Cuba Introduction Cuba is a fascinating island on which to conduct anthropological studies, as its exceptional political and economic situation has an enormous impact on Cuban people’s life. Due to the unique character of Cuba’s socialist governmental structure and policies, as well as the economic embargo imposed by the United States on Cuba, in combination with the economic hardship Cubans faced (and still face) after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s. Many Cubans rely on remittances, gifts, and imported goods from abroad to fulfill their (basic) consumption needs. Nevertheless, a new generation of young Cubans seems to be paying more attention to obtaining consumer goods–such as fashionable clothes, shoes, and smartphones–from abroad. As black markets flourish on the island as a result of the tendencies stated above, it is worthwhile to study what kind of goods are wanted and available, how they are provided and obtained, by whom they are sold and bought, and with what objectives. Geographically, Cuba belongs to the world, but it does not economically and politically participate fully in it. In relation to globalization, I noticed while I was there that Cubans, especially young Cubans, imagine their island as participating in 803 Volumen 10, Número 1 Otoño, 2018 global economies and politics while concomitantly feeling fettered by the restrictions and limitations that the reality of their current socioeconomic organization presents. As Foucault (1967) described, “there is a certain kind of heterotopia which I would describe as that of crisis; it comprises privileged or sacred or forbidden places that are reserved for the individual who finds himself in a state of crisis with respect to the society or the environment in which he lives” (331). -
