She runs to Cable's remaining arm and cradles it as she slips into unconsciousness. She later wakes up to seeing Beast fixing Colossus' arm. Around her, the X-Club is trying to heal all the wounded X-Men: i. Karma is given a new cybernetic leg to replace her amputated one she lost to Cameron Hodge. Beside Hope, Magneto muses that it took her less than a week to save them all and tells her that she obliterated Bastion as if he was a toy. Hope has no memory X-men: Second Coming this and presumes that she may be as dangerous as everyone thinks she is. Hellion X-men: Second Coming around, asking why would anyone think that. He also said that if he had hands, he'd give her a scratch on the head. Magneto advises that he run away. He then tells Hope to get some rest. A flashback shows Hope X-men: Second Coming Cable somewhere in the future, having defeated a squad of attackers trying to kill them. As they settle down for the night around a campfire, Hope expresses to her adoptive father her fears of losing him. Cable promises that's X-men: Second Coming going to happen. In the present, the X-Men are hosting a memorial for Cable. Cyclops attempts to read his son's eulogy but stops, breaking down on the podium. Hope steps forward to take his place, stating that Cable was a soldier, who was fighting for what's right. As she and Cyclops shed tears, she ask that no one else cry for Cable. Later, as Hope is sitting on the edge of a precipice, Prodigy tells the others that Hope is capable of anything they are. It's like someone make X-men: Second Coming "voodoo doll" of the entire mutant race. So in essence, Hope is mutantkind, with all the superpowers that come with it. Back at the cemetery, Cyclops confronts Rogue over her decision to bring Hope into the fight with the Nimrods. She tries defending that Hope didn't want to see others die for her. Cyclops reprimands her for making such a reckless choice and X-men: Second Coming her that she's off the combat roster until further notice. Until then, she needs to stick by Hope, for she's the only person she trusts. Meanwhile, Storm finds Wolverine, having drunken countless alcohol. She tells him of her confrontation with Cyclops over the secret existence of X-Force, which he claimed full responsibility for. She strongly disapproved of their methods, to kill their enemies, something the X-Men abhor. Wolverine states that he'd do it all again if he had to, even if it was to save Nightcrawler but he wouldn't involve any of the original team with him. Wolverine later finds X, telling her that she X-men: Second Coming have joined X-Force in the first place. He advises that she find her own direction in life. He then meets Cyclops at Alcatraz, where he learns about both Professor X and Beast's opinions about X-Force; X-men: Second Coming former thought he was looking at a stranger when he saw those dark secrets in Cyclops' mind and Beast has decided to leave X-men: Second Coming X-Men. Wolverine asks him what if the Avengers find out. Cyclops says that they'll cross that bridge when they come to it. But now it's a new day and X- Force won't be part of X-men: Second Coming. Wolverine reminds him that mutantkind has decreased in population, all because of Hope. Cyclops tells him not to blame her. There's only one rule for them: no one can know. Back in Utopia, Iceman finds Cyclops at the rebuilt Cerebra, where he is writing a letter to Nightcrawler's sister, to inform him about Beast's departure. At the moment, Beast is asking Namor if he needs a hand in moving some equipment, to which the prideful ruler of Atlantis refuses. Namor then asks him what kind of person would turn his back on his people. As Beast's transport takes off, Namor approaches Cyclops to X-men: Second Coming him that he's better off without Beast, for in an army, it doesn't X-men: Second Coming pacifists. Angel then walks up to them, informing them that a bonfire has been set up by the others. As Cyclops stride to the fire, Angel tries teaching Namor how to playing basketball He finds Emma there, locked in her diamond form to briefly shut out X-men: Second Coming emotions. And right in front of them if Hope, taking it hard about Cable's X-men: Second Coming. As cyclops walks off, Emma then notices as Hope is before the bonfire, it assumes the shape of a phoenix raptor. Remembering her vision of Jean Grey, she rush to find Cyclops, whose at Cerebra, where there are five lights on the globe, indicating the presence of new mutants. The end is here. September X-Men: Second Coming - Wikipedia The story opens one year ago at the ruins of the Xavier Institute, which is marked as a no trespassing zone by order of H. The scene moves forward to the present day as Cable and Hope arrive in the midst of the wreckage. Cable is understandably confused at the state of the Institute and realizes something has happened. Hope is visibly upset and fears the X-Men are dead. Before they can react further, Cable and Hope are attacked by members of the Right. Cyclops says that every attack X-men: Second Coming Utopia could end in death and that they have to hold out. Doctor Nemesis says that it's too late for that and that the mutant populace is too low to perpetuate the species. He states that at the rate of deaths they are sustaining, mutantkind has seven years left at most. After the meeting, Cyclops lashes out in frustration and blasts a hole in the conference room roof with his optic blasts. After he does, the Stepford Cuckoos X-men: Second Coming and tell Cyclops that Cerebra has picked up Cable's return to the present. Elsewhere, Cable and Hope defeat the Right assault troops, but are then confronted by members of the Sapien League and forced to flee in a stolen vehicle. Cyclops and his team arrive at the Institute, via Magik's teleportational powers and find the dead Right troopers, but no sign of Cable and Hope. Wolverine picks up on their scents and Cyclops reemphasizes to them Hope's importance to mutantkind's future. Elsewhere the Sapien League have caught up to Cable and Hope. As they are about to open fire on their car, the X-Men arrive and attack the League, distracting them long enough for Cable and Hope to escape. Psylocke tries to psionically scan the minds of the League members the X-Men captured, but they are technologically shielded from her probes. Wolverine threatens one of them, demanding to know how they are tracking Cable and Hope, but he refuses to talk. X then brutally executes another member by stabbing her claws through his head before the horrified eyes of the surviving League member and Nightcrawler. Wolverine's captive begs for mercy and tells him he has no idea how and that someone is sending them locations. Psylocke and Nightcrawler realize that Wolverine, Angel and X are keeping something from them and demand answers. X-men: Second Coming and Hope stop at a nearby grocery store to procure food and supplies. After tying up some of the customers and the employees, Hope becomes distracted with a hair brush set. This angers Cable, which in turn upsets Hope. They quickly steal a car from the parking lot and they leave. Nightcrawler is furious and attempts to quit then and there, but he is convinced to stay by Colossus. On Utopia, Cyclops makes psionic contact via Emma Frost's telepathy and is appraised of the current situation by X-men: Second Coming. Nightcrawler demands to know from Cyclops if what he has learned from Wolverine about X-Force X-men: Second Coming the truth. After a second of hesitation and some urging from Emma, Cyclops X-men: Second Coming him yes, but also to tells him that if he has issues over his decisions, to take it up with him after Cable and Hope are X-men: Second Coming and not while they are in the field.

Krampe, and Clemens Tesch-Romer The theoretical framework presented in this article explains expert performance as the end result of individuals' prolonged efforts to improve performance while negotiating motivational and external constraints. In most domains of expertise, individuals begin in their childhood a regimen of effortful activities (deliberate practice) designed to optimize improvement. Individual differences, even among elite performers, are closely related to assessed amounts of deliberate practice. Many characteristics once believed to reflect innate talent are actually the result of intense practice extended for a minimum of 10 years. Analysis of expert performance provides unique evidence on the potential and limits of extreme environmental adaptation and learning. However, many of the resulting reports lead to a deterministic interpretation of the role of genes, and involve fundamental misunderstandings of genetics and heredity. Hence, questions arise regarding the ways in which people make sense of the behavioural genetics research they encounter in everyday life. Furthermore, essentialist accounts are often embedded within popular understanding of politically sensitive topics, such as eugenics, race, and sex, and therefore it is important to examine how people comprehend genetic influences on behaviour. In this dissertation, I review current findings regarding the effects of genetic attributions on beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours in the context of the social world. Particular attention is paid to such effects in the context of gender issues. Specifically, in three studies I examine the effects of exposure to scientific theories concerning human sexuality on attitudes towards and evaluations of men’s dubious sexual behaviors. The results indicate that among men exposure to evolutionary psychology arguments leads to more lenient evaluations and judgments of an array of dubious sexual behaviors, compared with exposure to social constructivist arguments.

Comics as a Medium dor Inquiry: Urban Students (Re-)Designing Critical Social Worlds Abstract Literacy scholars have argued that curricular remediation marginalizes the dynamic meaning-making practices of urban youth and ignores contemporary definitions of literacy as multimodal, socially situated, and tied to people's identities as members of cultural communities. For this reason, it is imperative that school-based literacy research unsettle status quos by foregrounding the sophisticated practices that urban students enact as a result, and in spite of, the marginalization they manage in educational settings. A hopeful site for honoring the knowledge of urban students is the nexus of alternative learning spaces that have taken on increased significance in ouths'y lives. Many of these spaces focus on young people's engagements with new literacies, multimodalities, the arts, and popular media, taking the stance that students' interests are inherently intellectual. The Cabrini Comics Inquiry Community (CCIC), located in a K-8 Catholic school in South Philadelphia, is one such space.

From my point of view, every performance by a powerful character like Wonder Woman, Daisy Duke, or Princess Leia, served to highlight her drive, ability, and intellect in a wholly uncomplicated way. What I did not notice then was the often-problematic performances of female power that accompanied those narratives. As a performance studies and theatre scholar, with a decades’ old love of all things popular culture, I began to ponder the troubling question: Why are there so many popular narratives focused on female characters who are, on a surface level, portrayed as bastions of strength, that fall woefully short of being true representations of empowerment when subjected to close analysis? In an endeavor to answer this question, in this dissertation I examine what I contend are some of the paradoxical performances of female heroism, womanhood, and feminine aggression from the 1960s to the 1990s. To facilitate this investigation, I engage in close readings of several key aesthetic and cultural texts from these decades. While the Wonder Woman comic book universe serves as the centerpiece of this study, I also consider troublesome performances and representations of female power in the television shows Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the film Grease, the stage musical Les Misérables, and the video game Tomb Raider.
