Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.Pdf
My biggest problem is my brother, Farley Drexel Hatcher. Everybody calls him Fudge. I feel sorry for him if he’s going to grow up with a name like Fudge, but I don’t say a word. It’s none of my business. Fudge is always in my way. He messes up everything he sees. And when he gets mad he throws himself flat on the floor and he screams. And he kicks. And he bangs his fists. The only time I really like him is when he’s sleeping. He sucks four fingers on his left hand and makes a slurping noise. When Fudge saw Dribble he said, “Ohhhhh . see!” And I said, “That’s my turtle, get it? Mine! You don’t touch him.” Fudge said, “No touch.” Then he laughed like crazy. June 2016 A Message to Pingry Families, Fostering a love of reading is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children. The Lower School Library Summer Reading Lists have been developed to encourage reading and to guide our students with their book choices during the summer. Reading for pleasure during this time will continue the development of reading skills and instill a love of reading that will last a lifetime. We recommend that students read a variety of books from their reading list. Many different books, from challenging to easier titles, are listed. While specific book titles are suggested, students may read any title by the authors listed. The books are divided into fiction, nonfiction, poetry, folktales, and biographies and the titles are annotated to help in the selection process. We hope every child will find something on the list which will spark their interest in reading. The following information and resources can be found in this booklet: Postcards to the Library Program – Students send picture postcards to the Library letting us know the books they are reading and how they are enjoying their summer vacation. See directions for participation on the next page. Reading Log – Set a reading goal, and record the books read during the summer. Postcards to the Library the Pingry
The Pingry School Grades Short Hills Campus 2-3 Summer Reading Lists 2009 Postcards to the Library June 2009 Dear Parents, The Pingry School Library has a tradition of providing summer reading book lists for our students. We strongly encourage them to read a selection of books from their list during the summer. Reading for pleasure during this time will continue the development of reading skills so that no ground is lost over the summer and will help to instill a love of reading that will last a lifetime. Attached is the suggested summer reading list for your child’s grade level. Reading levels vary within a grade, so there are both challenging selections and easy-to-read titles on the list. Students may choose to read any title from the list and may read as many books as their schedules allow. Students are not expected to read all the books on the list. The list is divided into fiction, nonfiction, poetry, folktales, and biographies and the titles are annotated to help in the selection process. You may wish to read other books by the same author that are not on the list. Hopefully, every child will find something to spark their interest. Please encourage the use of the reading log in the back of the booklet to record the titles of all the books read during the summer. We ask that every student send picture postcards to the library letting us know the titles of the books they are reading and how they are enjoying their vacation. See the next page for details on the Postcards to the Library Program.
