  • Hospitals Recognized for Child Emergency Care Capabilities
HOSPITALS RECOGNIZED FOR CHILD EMERGENCY CARE CAPABILITIES Since 1998, over 100 hospitals within Illinois (including three hospitals in Indiana) have received recognition by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program for having the essential resources and capabilities in place to meet the emergency and critical care needs of seriously ill and injured children. This program recognizes hospitals that enhance their emergency departments and pediatric departments to meet the unique needs of pediatric patients. Children are not small adults. To provide the appropriate care for children requires special training, equipment and supplies. They cannot be cared for in emergency care systems initially developed for adult patients. Hospitals can apply for one of three levels of voluntary recognition. Facilities that have a pediatric intensive care unit and can provide specialty inpatient services for the pediatric patient can seek recognition as a Pediatric Critical Care Center (PCCC). Hospitals that can provide comprehensive emergency services and meet pediatric emergency care requirements are recognized as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP). The Standby Emergency Department for Pediatrics (SEDP) recognition is for hospitals that can provide stabilization measures and have transfer agreements in place when more definitive care is needed. Note that those centers applying for the PCCC level must have attained EDAP status. Hospitals seeking one of these voluntary designations

  • Week 3 Antibody Therapy Allocations to Hospitals
JB Pritzker, Governor Ngozi O. Ezike, MD, Director 11/30/2020 MEMORANDUM TO: Hospital Administrators Hospital Pharmacists Hospital Emergency Response Coordinators Regional Hospital Coordinating Centers FROM: Ngozi O. Ezike, MD Director RE: Week 3 Antibody Therapy Allocations to Hospitals Week 3 Antibody therapy allocations includes the addition of Regeneron’s antibody cocktail casirivimab/imdevimab for the treatment of mild to moderate coronavirus disease. In week 3 the state of Illinois was allocated 3,160 vials of Eli Lilly’s bamlanivimab and 2,280 vials of Regeneron’s casirivimab/imdevimab and distribution will begin the week of November 30, 2020. The following methodology was used to calculate the allocations to hospitals for Week 3: • The proportion of COVID med/surg and ICU hospitalizations for the week of November 18 – November 23, 2020. • Consideration for Safety Net hospitals and critical access hospitals that serve high priority populations including aged, Latino, Black, and rural communities. Any vials not accepted by hospitals will be re-allocated to other hospitals based on urgent requests to IDPH. Supportive Resources For further information, hospitals can reference IDPH’s Guidance for the Emergency Use Authorization of Eli Lillys and Company’s bamlanivimab and Regeneron’s casirivimab/imdevimab. Additional resources can be found at the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response’s COVID-19 Medical Countermeasures website. Questions regarding hospital allocations should be directed to [email protected]. Questions regarding the bamlanivimab and casirivimab/imdevimab distribution process from Amerisource Bergen should be directed to their customer support by calling 1-800-746-6273, or by reaching out directly to your Amerisource Bergen representative or email [email protected].
