RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO FOR WINNING OVER REIGNING BOXING TITLIST DAVID DlAZ OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA) TO CAPTURE THE PRESTIGIOUS WORLD BOXING COUNCIL (WBC) CHAMPIONSHIP BELT IN THE LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION DURING THEIR PRO BOXING MATCH HELD LAST SATURDAY, 28 JUNE 2008 HELD AT LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, USA
WHEREAS, Manny "PACMAN" Pacquiao made an exemplary boxing performance by defeating the current WBC Lightweight belt title holder David Diaz of USA during their celebrated professional boxing match dubbed as the "Lethal Combination" last Saturday, June 28,2008 held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA:
WHEREAS, this boxing match-up last Saturday between Pacquiao and Diaz is the former's debut fight in the lightweight division having recently moved up in this weight category immediately after being rewarded the WBC Super Featherweight championship last March 2008:
WHEREAS, with this undisputed victory of Manny Pacquiao for WBC crown in the Lightweight division, he became the first pro-boxer in Asia to achieve four world titles in four different weight categories previously captured the WBC flyweight in 1998, IBF Super Bantamweight in 2001 and WBC Super Featherweight championship this year;
WHEREAS, the Filipino boxing sensation who holds an international boxing match record 47 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws with 35 impressive fights by way of a knock out; never failed to impress not only his countrymen but international boxing aficionados as well;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved by the Senate to congratulate Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao for winning over reigning boxing titlist David Diaz of the United States of America (USA) to capture World Boxing Council (WBC) championship belt in the Lightweight division boxing match held last Saturday, 28 June 2008 held at Las Vegas, Nevada, / Adopted,
