I’ve experience in both long and short form films, directing people led sequences and wildlife behaviour from the Australia to the Arctic. From story board to edit I’m fluent in forming coherent sequences which are driven by a solid narrative and embrace technical innovations.

VOLTAGE TV - April 2015 - June 2015 Development Producer - Working up initial pitch to a fully formed proposition for Nat Geo. Researching ideas, writing narrative arc and sequence order to form the main structure of the film. Organising collaborations with global conservation and research organisations. OXFORD SCIENTIFIC FILMS - January 2015 - February - 2015 Development AP - Co-writing a treatment for a proposed 6 part series for DNI including series budget. Researching ideas, writing narrative arc and sequence order to form the main structure of the film. ( awaiting commissioning)

PLIMSOLL PRODUCTIONS – 4 X 60 July 2014 - November 2014 Director– Lions – Responsible for driving the film structure, working with the Series Director to blend blue chip wildlife storytelling with presenter led sequences. Shot listing and scripting the sequences and handling budgets in addition to setting up a remote location camp before heading out to film for 5 weeks and 3 weeks of pre-edit.

BBC NHU - 5 x 60 –May 2012 – July 2014 Director – Working across Programme 1 and 2 developing broader series themes, programme structure and individual sequences, setting up, scripting and directing complex shoots from Deserts of Northern to jungle clad islands of Australia.

Shoots include dive, aerials, MOVI, and complex weather related animal behaviour in isolated regions on a restrictive budget.

I took the sequences I directed and others through the main edit working solely with my editor. I was heavily involved in the editorial input for the overall shape of the film. In addition I took PRG1 though the first month of edit with the editor structuring the film.

BBC NHU - 3 x 60 –October 2010 – May 2012 Researcher / Director - Establishing the research foundations for the series. Directing and setting up complex shoots in the field, including multi-camera sync shoots nocturnal IR/ starlight shoots, remote camera work (camera traps), set work, underwater dive shoots, developing unmanned aerial drone with RED Epic payload, experience shooting 2nd camera and Making of footage and HDR and IR timelapses. Controlling budgets, writing shooting scripts and guide narration for pieces I directed and working with editors in the main edit

BBC WW - One Life – June 2010 1 x 90 – October 2010 Researcher – 4 months in edit working with the directors and editor on structure and scripts turning a blue chip series into a 90 minute feature film.

BBC NHU One Show – 1 x 4 May 2010 Director – Part of the NHU academy scheme I was awarded a placement to direct a sequence for the One Show natural history inserts from conception to transmission

BBC NHU HD – 7x60 January 2010 – April 2010 Researcher / Field Director - Wrote and edited over 20 pieces for Online. Series wide research, shoots included a technical landscape shoot with the cineflex and hide work with the Phantom HD camera.

BBC NHU Africa 6x60 HD August 2009 – December 2009 Researcher- Developing series themes and programme structure, Sole researcher for initial story ideas for Congo and Sahara programmes. Setting up foreign shoots and storyboarding. Filming starting January 2010.

BBC NHU LIFE 10 x 60 HD - February 2008 to August 2009 Researcher / Field Director– Working with producers and editors to craft sequences in the edit. Planning and directing shoots (UK and abroad), researching and developing new story ideas. Writing shot lists and scripting sequences, Managing and processing series wide timelapse / hi speed footage using photron, phantom, red and motion software.
