Wie hätte „Top Gear“ vor 65 Jahren ausgesehen? Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond und James May geben auf diese Zuschauerfrage eine simple Antwort: im Prinzip genauso wie heute! Denn auch damals gab es schon cooles Spielzeug für eingefleischte Motor-Freaks. Zum Beispiel den Jaguar XK 120, Baujahr 1948, eine echte Stilikone mit jeder Menge Power unter der Haube. DMAX Programm Programmwoche 10, 02.03. bis 08.03.2013 Samstag, 02.03.2013 06:10 Uhr American Hot Rod Corvette und Chevy 3 Es war ein geschichtsträchtiger Augenblick in der Welt des Automobils, als Boyd Coddington im zarten Alter von gerade mal 13 Jahren auf den 1931er Ford Chevrolet Truck traf, der sein Leben veränderte. Immerhin bescherte diese Liebe auf den ersten Blick der Welt eine Legende in Sachen Hot Rod-Konstruktion. Wenn es um die Frage geht, wie man klassische Automobile mit Hilfe von Chrom, Hubraum und Pferdestärken zu einzigartigen Kunstwerken macht, gehört der amerikanische Ausnahme-Konstrukteur weltweit zur "Hall of Fame". Seit den 60er Jahren konstruieren Boyd und seine Söhne in Kalifornien mit unnachahmlicher Leidenschaft aufsehenerregende Hot Rods. "American Hot Rod" zeigt Boyd Coddington und sein Team hautnah bei der Arbeit an Kunstwerken auf vier Rädern. 1953 war beim amerikanischen Auto-Hersteller Chevrolet die Zeit reif für einen Sportwagen. Immerhin war der in der Schweiz geborene Firmengründer Louis Chevrolet Rennfahrer. Das Auto, das man in den 50er Jahren auf den Markt brachte, bestand zwar fast nur aus Einzelteilen anderer Chevrolet-Typen, trotzdem sollte der Wagen Geschichte schreiben. Die Corvette gilt bis heute als der amerikanische Sportwagen schlechthin. Vom ersten Corvette-Modell wurden pro Jahr gerade mal 300 Stück gebaut. Heute wartet die sechste Generation mit über 500 PS auf und ist weltweit bekannt. Liebhaber von Oldtimern, wie Boyd Coddington, ziehen natürlich trotzdem die alten Modelle vor. 06:55 Uhr Infomercial 08:50 Uhr Holzfäller extrem Wintereinbruch Holzfäller-Veteran Bobby Goodson und seine Angestellten bringt so leicht nichts aus der Ruhe - die kernigen Typen sind aus einem besonders harten Holz geschnitzt. Der Firmenboss und seine Angestellten wagen sich mit ihren tonnenschweren Maschinen in Gegenden, um die andere einen großen Bogen machen. So zum Beispiel in die abgelegenen Sümpfe von North Carolina, in denen es vor Schlangen nur so wimmelt. Tückischer Morast, wilde Tiere, extrem hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit und Millionen blutgierige Moskitos - das Roden in Sumpfgebieten ist nicht nur ein Knochenjob, sondern auch mit enormen wirtschaftlichen Risiken verbunden. Doch echte Typen wie Bobby Goodson lassen sich von solchen Umständen nicht abschrecken und krempeln stattdessen die Ärmel hoch. Diese spannende Doku-Serie zeigt die Holzfäller-Urgesteine bei ihrer harten und gefährlichen Arbeit in den Wäldern. Im Winter zeigt sich der Sumpf von seiner schlimmsten Seite. Bobby und seine Männer haben gerade eine 40 Hektar große Fläche abgeerntet und ziehen nun mit ihren schweren Maschinen in ein vielversprechendes Gebiet um. Doch die eisigen Temperaturen und ein rabiater Landbesitzer machen den harten Burschen einen Strich durch die Rechnung, der Goodsons Firma mehrere Tausend Dollar kostet. 09:55 Uhr Infomercial 10:15 Uhr Die Schatzsucher - Goldrausch in Alaska Zwischen Hoffen und Bangen Der Wilde Westen war gestern, doch das Goldfieber ist zurück. Mit einem festen Ziel vor Augen nehmen sechs Männer in der Wildnis Alaskas ihr Schicksal selbst in die Hand: Auf einem abgeschiedenen Claim nahe der kanadischen Grenze wollen sie nach Gold schürfen. Zusammen mit seinem Vater Jack, einem echten Goldrausch-Veteran, hat Todd Hoffman eine Handvoll motivierter Männer um sich versammelt. Die Hoffnung auf Reichtum, Ruhm und faustgroße Nuggets treibt sie dabei zu Höchstleistungen an. Doch was sich nach der wildromantischen Verwirklichung eines Kindheitstraums anhört, ist knüppelharte Arbeit gepaart mit hohem Risiko: Wildlebende Bären, extreme Witterung und herbe Enttäuschungen warten auf die Schatzsucher in einer gottverlassenen Gegend. Todd Hoffman und seinen Gefährten läuft die Zeit davon. Seit sechs Wochen schuften die Goldsucher nun schon auf ihrem Claim in der hintersten Ecke Alaskas, und bis jetzt haben die Männer noch kein einziges Nugget gefunden. Mit Inbetriebnahme der neu installierten Goldwaschanlage hoffen jetzt alle auf den großen Durchbruch. Doch die Euphorie ist von kurzer Dauer. Ein Regierungs-Inspekteur eröffnet den Abenteurern nach Kontrolle ihres Camps, dass die Wasserleitungen neu verlegt werden müssten, weil sie den Umweltschutz-Richtlinien nicht entsprechen würden. Und dann kommt es noch viel schlimmer: Todds zweijährige Tochter Olivia erleidet einen plötzlichen Anfall mit Atemstillstand und muss dringend in ein Krankenhaus gebracht werden. 11:15 Uhr Die Schatzsucher - Goldtaucher der Beringsee Der Bagger-Unfall Neun lange Monate im Jahr ist der Hafen des kleinen Städtchens Nome in Alaska zugefroren. Doch wenn im Sommer das Eis schmilzt, pilgern Abenteurer aus der ganzen Welt an diesen entlegenen Ort, denn in den Gewässern vor der Küste verbirgt sich ein wertvoller Schatz: Pures Gold - über Millionen Jahre vom Schmelzwasser der Gletscher angeschwemmt. Beim Versuch, das kostbare Edelmetall aus der Tiefe zu holen, scheuen die Männer im nördlichsten US-Bundesstaat weder Mühen noch Risiken. Die Schatztaucher haben ihre Boote "Christine Rose", "Sluicey" und "Wild Ranger" aufwändig mit hydraulischen Pumpen ausgerüstet. In der Hoffnung auf den ganz großen Fund suchen sie den Meeresgrund mit riesigen Staubsaugern ab. Doch der Traum vom Reichtum erfüllt sich nur für die wenigsten, denn die Beringsee gibt ihre Kostbarkeiten ungern preis. Schichtwechsel auf der "Christine Rose". Nach zwölf Stunden Knochenarbeit ist Schiffseigentümer Steve Pomrenke mit seinen Kräften am Ende. Goldsuchen auf dem Meeresgrund ist eben nichts für Weicheier. Nun übernehmen seine Decksleute Robbi und Cody das Kommando. Da Steves Sohn Shawn vor einigen Wochen bei einer Kneipenschlägerei mit einem Messer verletzt wurde, bleibt dem Schatzsucher keine Wahl: Er muss den Grünschnäbeln das Schiff anvertrauen, damit er sich selbst ein bisschen ausruhen kann. Doch kaum ist der Boss von Deck, bricht das Chaos aus. Robbi ist beim Hantieren mit dem 10 Tonnen schweren Bagger einen Moment lang unkonzentriert und bricht seinem Kollegen mit dem Monstrum um ein Haar das Genick. 12:15 Uhr Street Customs - Ryans Traum vom perfekten Auto Designer-Hummer Auto-Freaks aufgepasst: Massenware ist out - speziell auf Kundenwünsche zugeschnittene Luxus-Karossen, so genannte "Custom-Cars", sind auch in Deutschland groß im Kommen. Auto-Veredler Ryan Friedlinghaus erkannte diesen Trend frühzeitig und rief die weltweit erfolgreichste Custom-Car-Werkstatt "West Coast Customs" (WCC) ins Leben. "Auffallen um jeden Preis" lautet das Motto, unter dem sich Ryan und seine Tuning-Crew an die Arbeit machen. Egal ob Neuwagen oder Oldtimer, die Jungs von WCC verleihen jeder Fließband-Kiste eine einzigartige Optik mit Blickfang-Garantie. Mittlerweile gelten die Unikate Marke Friedlinghaus sogar bei internationalen Film- und Musikgrößen als Statussymbol. Wenn Geld keine Rolle spielt, sind auch der Fantasie keine Grenzen gesetzt, und die Tuning-Profis um Ryan Friedlinghaus können zeigen, was sie zu den unbestrittenen Custom-Kings macht. Prêt-à-porter meets Edel-Tuning! Oder anders ausgedrückt: Custom-Profi trifft Modepapst. In dieser Episode schrauben Ryan Friedlinghaus und seine Auto-Cracks an einem Hummer für Christian Audigier. Und da der Designchef und Eigentümer der Kultmarke "Ed Hardy" ein Auge für besonders stylische Looks hat, dürfen sich Ryan und Crew natürlich keinen Faux Pas erlauben.
