We have new classes added in our Cattle, Horses & Ponies, Poultry, Dogs and Home Industry Section with a few special events lined up for this years show such as the Macra na Feirme FBD, All Ireland Semi-Final Farm Skills Competition. Woodturning Session for any Craft enthusiasts and Story Telling Session with Imelda Ryan-Jones for the younger children. Check out our fantastic Special offers Thanks to Sligo Co. Council for their funding under the Community & Voluntary Sector Grant Scheme, also Riverstown Park Committee for the kind use of the Park and the Dept. of Agriculture. Also I would like to thank the Garda for there assistance in traffic control, and the Civil Defence for them present on the show field for the day. I n presenting tliis final Report of the proceedings of the Relief Committee of the Society of Friends, it is needful to have reference to the Report which was published in 1852, and to which was annexed a statement of accounts, showing a balance re­ maining unappropriated of £2,765 7s. id. This sum, after the payment of some small out­ standing claims, was invested at interest to await the probable contingency of a period of distress occurring hereafter, in which such assistance as was afforded in 1847 an(l 1848 might again be required. The first claim which it appeared right to ' recognize was made in i860, and came from the barony of Erris, an extensive district in the north­ west of the county of Mayo, consisting chiefly of unproductive bog and mountain, and thinly in­ habited in proportion to its extent. The crops of 1859 ha<l suffered severely from local causes, and there was in consequence much distress in this district in the spring and early summer of i860. The Committee, on being applied to, requested a gentleman who had visited Erris in 1847 and 1848 4 to investigate its present condition ; on his report it was agreed to afford some assistance, and even­ tually the sum of £562 12s.

A Record of Protected Structures (RPS) is a mechanism for the statutory protection of the architectural heritage of an area. Under the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended, each planning authority is required to compile and maintain an RPS for its functional area. The RPS forms part of the development plan and must include every structure, that is, in the opinion of the planning authority, of special architectural, historical, archaeological, artistic, cultural, scientific, social or technical interest. By including structures on the RPS, their importance is recognised and highlighted, they are legally protected from adverse impacts to their character and structural integrity and there is potential access for property owners to grant aid for conservation works.
