While the War To End All Wars did not live up to its billing, it did inspire the founding of Armistice Day. Our veterans and their families are the inspiration for our Military Appreciation Weekend. Today’s commemoration begins with a patriotic song medley entitled Our America that’s dedicated to our veterans. And by the time April 22, 2018 goaltender Wendell Young and the Wolves wrapped up their 4-2 victory over the Detroit Vipers, a love affair between a hockey team and a city had begun. It’s fitting that the Wolves meet the Milwaukee Admirals on this anniversary because the Admirals are 3-0-0-0 3-0-0-0 the only American Hockey League team that was a part of the International Hockey League along with the Wolves in 1994-95 -- and these two teams have been together every year since.
