Chicago Wolves Game Notes CHICAGO at GRAND RAPIDS NOVEMBER 28, 2018 6 P.M 2018-19 Chicago Wolves Game Notes CHICAGO AT GRAND RAPIDS NOVEMBER 28, 2018 6 p.m. AHLTV STARTING THE SECOND QUARTER 2018-19 The Chicago Wolves wrapped up the first quarter of the 76-game American Hockey League schedule TALE OF THE TAPE with a 10-6-2-1 record, which represents the franchise’s best start since 2014-15. Considering each of the last two Wolves teams posted a sub-.500 record over the first 19 games -- only to improve REGULAR-SEASON SERIES 2-1-0-0 Grand Rapids | 1-1-1-0 Chicago markedly the rest of the way and claim the Central Division title -- there’s reason to believe the same can happen again this year. Why are the Wolves off to a solid start? The team’s offense is a good place to begin. Rocky Thompson’s squad leads the Western Conference and ranks third in the AHL with 3.89 goals per game. If the Wolves maintain this pace, then this edition will rank second in the team’s 25-year history in goals per game as the 2006-07 squad averaged 4.14 per game. 10-7-0-2 10-6-2-1 Chicago boasts three of the league’s top 11 scorers in Brandon Pirri (8G, 14A), Daniel Carr (9G, 13A) LEADING SCORERS and Brooks Macek (14G, 7A). Tonight marks the start of the franchise’s 25th season overall and 18th year as part of the American Hockey League. It seems fitting to open the year against the Colorado REGULAR-SEASON SERIES 0-0-0-0 Colorado | 0-0-0-0 Chicago Eagles because it’s a milestone occasion for them as well. The Eagles are making their AHL debut as they were welcomed as the league’s 31st team earlier this year. LAST MEETING April 22, 2018 Just as the Wolves are known for being four-time league champions, the Eagles enter this year riding the momentum of back-to-back championships in the ECHL. They have become partners with the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche this season, so their roster does not bear much resemblance to the group that claimed the 2018 Kelly Cup. Only six Eagles return, but a good chunk of Colorado’s Opening Night 0-0-0-0 0-0-0-0 roster played for San Antonio last year as the Rampage served as the Colorado Avalanche’s NHL partner. That group includes former Wolves forward Andrew Agozzino (18 goals, 36 assists in 2016-17).
