This year we are looking forward not only to an exciting season of top-class handball played between Europe’s elite but also to marking another milestone in the competition’s history – 10 years of the VELUX EHF FINAL4. We are once again expecting a full-house of almost FAIRNESS 20,000 fans in Cologne’s LANXESS arena on 1/2 June 2019 for what promises to be an unforgettable anniversary event. & RESPECT Last season finished on a real high, with Montpellier HB returning to the throne in stunning fashion after 15 long years of waiting. Their success underlines the strengths of the competition’s playing format, with just about any team capable of picking up that coveted trophy regardless of which group they start the competition in. Standing in Montpellier’s way this season in Group A is a formidable line-up of teams including the eight-time champions from Barça Lassa, the 2017 winners HC Vardar and the 2016 trophy holders PGE Vive Kielce. In Group B, the challenge is no less daunting with two previous winners of the EHF Champions League SG Flensburg-Handewitt and Celje Pivovarna Lasko competing alongside last season’s runners-up HBC Nantes and semi-finalists Paris Saint-Germain Handball as well as the brand new Hungarian champions MOL-PICK Szeged. Everything is also wide open in Groups C/D as all of the 12 teams including eight national champions have a good chance of following Montpellier’s example from last season and making it through to the knock-out stages. Auf die heutige Partie freue ich mich so richtig. Es ist das erste Mal, dass ich in meiner Karriere ein Heimspiel in der VELUX EHF Champions League bestre- ite. Es war einer der Gründe, weshalb ich im Sommer zur SG gewechselt bin. Mit GOG habe ich schon im EHF-Cup gespielt, aber nun darf ich im interna- tionalen Vereinshandball eine Klasse höher antreten. Auch ein Spiel gegen den kroatischen Dauermeister HC PPD Zagreb ist für mich ein Novum. Ich kenne aber etliche Spieler von Länderspielen, wir müssen wieder alles geben, um zu gewinnen. So wie am Sonntag in Nantes, wo uns eine richtig gute Leistung gelungen ist. Man sagte uns nach Abpfiff, dass dort schon seit Jahren keine Mannschaft mehr gewonnen hatte. Diesen Schwung wollen wir mitnehmen und mit Ih- nen, liebe Zuschauer, die „Hölle Nord“ erleben. Ich bin sehr beeindruckt von der Atmosphäre in der Halle. So etwas kannte ich nicht von meinen früheren Vereinen. Ich bin mir sicher, dass wir alle gemeinsam heute die Punkte drei und vier in der VELUX EHF Champions League gewinnen können. U POLJSKOJ Sažetak: Cilj ovog rada je analiza uspješnosti rukometne reprezentacije Hrvatske na Europskom prvenstvu u Poljskoj. Na natjecanju je nastupilo 16 nacionalnih selekcija podijeljenih u 4 skupine po 4 momčadi. Hrvatska rukometna reprezentacija odigrala je ukupno 8 utakmica i ostvarila 5 pobjeda i 3 poraza što je na kraju bilo dovoljno za treće mjesto i brončanu medalju. Uzorak ispitanika obuhvaća 17 reprezentativaca (15 igrača i 2 vratara), koji su podijeljeni prema igračkim mjestima u fazi napada te vratari, a u radu je utvrđena pojedinačna učinkovitost svakog igrača i učinkovitost po igračkim pozicijama. U fazi napada analizirano je ukupno 6 varijabli situacijske efikasnosti šutiranja napadača s vanjskih, krilnih i linijskih pozicija, iz prodora, protunapada i sedmeraca, dok su kod vratara analizirane uspješne i neuspješne obrane šutova upućenih na vrata. U radu je vidljivo da je Hrvatska rukometna reprezentacija od 389 upućenih udaraca postigla 250 pogodaka (64%).

Dosadašnji format ovog natjecanja sadržavao je 24 reprezentacije, no ove smo godine u Egiptu po prvi puta vidjeli prošireni format od 32 momčadi koje su bile podijeljene u osam skupina po četiri. Uzorak ispitanika čini 21 (3 vratara + 18 igrača). U ovome je radu utvrđena učinkovitost svakog pojedinačnog igrača te učinkovitost povezana sa njihovim igračkim pozicijama.
