Joanna Newsom Announces North American Tour In Support of Divers And Theatrical Run of “Divers” Video

October - and we're still poised to bounce exponentially higher to increase velocity for when we splash into the technicolored depths of Joanna Newsom's Divers! And yet a clear sightline still doesn't fully reveal the limitlessness of this momentous album, nor can it anticipate the tectonic plate shift each new announcement brings! With two songs off Divers already officially "dropped" – first “Sapokanikan,” presented with the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed video, and second, "Leaving The City," accompanied by the beautiful imagery of visual artist Kim Keever -- can you fathom the idea of even more pre-release Newsom-excitement coming your way?
But, before we get into all that, behold, North America! Joanna Newsom’s first North American tour in five years is upon us! Come December, Joanna and band will perform at theaters throughout the East Coast and Midwest in support of Divers. The duo of Alela Diane & Ryan Francesconi will be support at all shows. Now, to keep you satiated until the album’s October 23rd release and the December tour, between October 16th and 22nd at select movie theaters across the globe, we’re presenting you with something very special – the theatrical-only release of the official “Divers” video! The music video for "Divers," the album’s title track, was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, and shot in New York City at the studio of Kim Keever, whose artwork is used throughout the packaging of Divers, allowing Joanna to actually step inside one of Keever's surrealistic and stormy landscapes.
