Established in 1979, Golf Canada Foundation’s mandate is to raise and grant funds for the advancement of golf in Canada. As a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association, the Foundation delivers this mandate by awarding scholarships to Canadian student golfers and distributing grants to support initiatives that fall into five key areas:

This year’s signature foundation event, the Trustee Cup, was held at Calgary Golf & Country Club honouring Brad Shaw and Clay Riddell for the tremendous work the Shaw Charity Classic has done in Calgary and throughout Alberta.

3 2018 SIGNATURE EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

THE SPRING SWING Angus Glen Golf Club hosted the sixth instalment of The Spring Swing, aimed at getting more JEAN C. MONTY women involved in golf. The event featured golf AND HÉLÈNE clinics, vendors, networking, hospitality and more. DESMARAIS CUPS Highlights included two golf stations with local 2018 marked the inaugural year for the Jean C. 4 GOLF CANADA FOUNDATION – 2018 ANNUAL REPORT Foundation Pro-Am RBC Canadian Open

PRO-AM RBC CANADIAN OPEN This year kicked off with the exciting news that the Foundation would become the official charity for the RBC Canadian Open. 2018 also marked the sixth year of the Canada Day Monday Pro- Am during the RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club. The objective of the Pro-Am is to create awareness and raise funds for Foundation initiatives, in particular for Team Canada and the Young Pro Program. This year’s Pro-Am featured Team RBC players , David Hearn, and Adam Hadwin along with Canadian golf legend , for a total of 26 foursomes that day. In total, $336,993 was raised during tournament week from the Monday Pro- Am, 50/50 draw, and RBC Birdies for Charity.

CANADA DAY ALL STAR PRO-AM CP WOMEN’S OPEN Wascana Country Club held the 2018 CP Women’s Open All-Star Canada Day Pro-Am. Participants were treated to an all-star clinic hosted by Gail Graham, featuring Lydia Ko, Alena Sharp, Lori Kane, Morgan Pressel and several other top players from the LPGA Tour. Following the clinic, guests played 18 holes with a top Canadian player and finished the day with a fun evening of cocktails. In total, $70,394 was raised from the Monday Pro-Am and 50/50 draw that ran through tournament week.

TRUSTEE CUP CP Women’s Open On August 28, 2018, the Foundation hosted its annual signature event, the Trustee Cup, at Calgary Golf & Country Club. The event Trustee Cup brings together influential stakeholders in golf and raises funds for our grassroots programming and our high-performance team. This year’s event was co-hosted by our honorees, Brad Shaw and Clay Riddell, who do tremendous work in golf philanthropy through the Shaw Charity Classic. Eighteen teams were treated to a spectacular round of golf and surprise and delights from PGA Champions Tour players Colin Montgomerie and Rod Spittle. Each team played a few holes with Team Canada players and gained VIP access to the Shaw Charity Classic’s draw party. The event raised over $427,085 and has a long-term goal to travel to the most prestigious courses across Canada. 5 JUNIOR GOLF

Canada’s national junior golf development program, Future driven by Acura guarantees golfers a positive, fun- filled and exciting experience. This program is segmented into three pillar programs: Facility, In-School and Outreach. In 2018, we saw 145,320 new kids participating in junior programming—that’s over 1.6 million kids participating in our flagship grassroots programs since inception. Specifics for each program are illustrated below.

Through the Women’s Fund, the Foundation supports initiatives that have a long-term impact on growing the game for women. In 2018, a total of $61,500 was granted from the Women’s Fund for the following five projects:

GOLF CANADA WORLD JUNIOR GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP $25,000 This year’s tournament marked the fifth edition of the World Junior Girls Championship. The event was held in Cumberland, Ontario at Camelot Golf & Country Club, where 57 of the world’s best female junior golfers competed. Team Italy emerged victorious.

GOLF CANADA FOUNDATION YOUNG PRO PROGRAM $25,000 Donations were matched to support Golf Canada’s young professionals with a focus on coaching, career management, equipment, sport science, and training. An additional female golfer was added to the roster and together they earned nine top-10 Symetra Tour finishes. This year’s recipients were: Augusta James, Brittany Marchand, Anne-Catherine Tanguay, and Jennifer Ha.

ALBERTA GOLF – SHE SWINGS SHE SCORES $5,000 Alberta Golf’s She Swings She Scores is a program designed to introduce girls aged 6-12 to the sport of golf. The goal is to bring golf directly to girls and provide opportunities for players and teammates to learn the sport together in a fun and inclusive environment. This year the program visited 12 sport and community events over the summer and engaged 1,775 girls, a 44% increase over last year’s program.

SASKATCHEWAN GOLF – GIRLS DEVELOPMENT CAMPS $5,000 Golf Saskatchewan held a variety of golf programs for girls of varying ages and experience levels this past season. Among these initiatives were three-day introductory camps and five-week programs lead by PGA golf professionals focusing on girls 8-16 years of age to develop and strengthen skills.

PEI GOLF ASSOCIATION – GIRLS GOLF CAMPS $1,500 The PEIGA hosted 32 one-hour clinics for 46 participants from across the province, where five PGA of Canada professionals provided on-course instruction to help get more girls into the game.

Canada’s top golfers play an important role in inspiring young players, captivating Canadian golf enthusiasts and increasing overall participation in the sport. A key part of Golf Canada Foundation’s role is to support the next generation of high-performance, from the provincial teams up through Team Canada’s Junior Squad, Amateur Squad, and Young Pro Squad. The Foundation increased support in 2018, resulting in the addition of two players, moving the Young Pro Squad from six to eight players.

2018 YOUNG PRO SQUAD Golf Canada launched the Young Pro Squad in 2014 with a goal of increasing support for young professionals to help them transition to a career in golf with a focus that mirrors the success of major Canadian winners. The program provides support in the following areas: coaching, career management, equipment, sport science, and training.

It truly is an exciting time in Canadian golf as we have never seen more of our men and women climb the leaderboards throughout the world. For the fiscal year that ended on October 31, 2018, both our revenues and the funds granted by the Foundation reached record totals.
