Honors Geometry Name______Chp.1 and 2 Quiz 2Nd/7Th Period, 9/10/07 A.M.D.G Honors Geometry Name___________________ Chp.1 and 2 Quiz 2nd/7th period, 9/10/07 A.M.D.G. 1) What is a plane? Explain so that a 10-year-old could understand. (5 points) A plane is a flat two-dimensional surface that extends forever in those two dimensions. 2) Can you ever bisect a line segment? Why or why not? (5 points) Yes, since a segment has a finite length, you can cut it into two equal lengths. 3) Find the midpoint of the line segment whose endpoints are (-12, 5) and (17, 12). Explain how you could demonstrate that the point you found is actually the midpoint. You do not actually have to prove this is the midpoint, but if you want to as part of your explanation, you may. (10 points) ⎛⎞x1212++xy y ⎜⎟, ⎝⎠22 ⎛⎞−+12 17 5 + 12 ⎜⎟, ⎝⎠22 ⎛⎞517 ⎜⎟, ⎝⎠22 You could graph the segment and measure it to confirm that you have a midpoint. 4) Explain what is wrong with the statement, AB= CD . What could you do to correct the statement? (5 points) The symbols, AB and CD , are indicating segments, so we should use AB≅ CD to indicate that the segments are congruent to each other. OR We could also say that AB= CD , indicating that the lengths are the same. 5) Write the converse and inverse of the following statement and indicate if each one is true or false: (10 points) If you bisect an obtuse angle, then the new angles are acute. Converse: If the new angles are acute, then you bisected an obtuse angle. False – you could bisect an acute angle and get two acute angles. Inverse: If you do not bisect an obtuse angle, then the new angles are not acute. False – you could get acute angles from cutting an obtuse angle into two non-congruent pieces. 6) Write a reason for each step in solving the algebra problem, 51253x +=() −x . (5 points) 51253x +=( −x) Given 512155x +=−x Distributive Property 10x += 12 15 Addition Prop. Of = 10x = 3 Addition Prop. Of = 3 x = Multiplication Prop. Of = 10 7) Assume all of the following statements are true, and use the information to respond to all of the following: (20 points total) If his friends come over, then Mr. Maychrowitz plays Tekken 5 with them. If Mr. Maychrowitz plays Tekken 5, then he plays Paul Phoenix. If Mr. M. plays Paul Phoenix, then he wins at Tekken 5. If Mr. M wins at Tekken 5, then he gloats. a) What can you conclude if Mr. M does not gloat? List any and all conclusions. b) What can you conclude if Mr. M plays Tekken 5? List any and all conclusions. c) What can you conclude if Mr. M’s friends don’t come over? List any and all conclusions. d) What can you conclude if Mr. M does not play Paul Phoenix? List any and all conclusions. a) He doesn’t win, doesn’t play Paul Phoenix, doesn’t play Tekken 5, and his friends don’t come over. b) He plays Paul Phoenix, wins at Tekken 5, and he gloats. c) You can’t conclude anything. d) He doesn’t play Tekken 5, and his friends did not come over. 8) Complete the following proof without using the Congruent Complements Theorem (assume that you have not proved that theorem yet) (20 points) Given: ∠∠1 and 2 are complementary ∠∠3 and 4 are complementary ∠≅∠14 ∠1 ∠2 ∠3 ∠4 Prove: ∠≅23∠ Statement Reason ∠1 and ∠2 are complementary Given ∠3 and ∠4 are complementary mm∠+12∠ =90D Definition of complementary angles D mm∠+34∠=90 mm∠+12∠ =m∠3+m∠4 Transitive Property of Equality ∠≅14∠ Given mm∠=14∠ Definition of Congruence mm∠+12∠ =m∠3+m∠1 Substitution Property of Equality mm∠=23∠ Addition Property of Equality ∠≅23∠ Definition of Congruence .

• TEKKEN 3 STORY One Day, Fifteen Years After the King of Iron Fist Tournament 2, a Communique Was Sent to Heihachi Mishima, the Leader of the Mishima Financial Empire
TEKKEN 3 STORY One day, fifteen years after The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2, a communique was sent to Heihachi Mishima, the leader of the Mishima Financial Empire. The report brought the ominous news that his “Tekken Forces” had been obliterated after encountering a mysterious being called “Ogre”. Soon after receiving this news, martial arts masters from around the world began disappearing. In the midst of Heihachi’s concerns about the missing fighters and Ogre, a young man appeared before him. His name was Jin Kazama. He claimed to be the son of Kazuya Mishima, whom Heihachi himself had taken to the grave during the last Tournament. In a more startling revelation, Jin said that his mother, Jun Kazama, had been attacked by Ogre and vanished. All of these events convinced Heihachi that Ogre thrived on the powerful souls of the vanished masters. He also believed that harnessing Ogre’s powers could bring immense strength to the Mishima empire. And thus Heihachi taught the art of Mishima Style Fighting Karate to young Jin. Jin’s discipline and abilities were strengthened like steel under the intensive training driven by the desire for revenge upon the beast that took his mother’s life. Four years have passed, and Heihachi acknowledges Jin’s impressive fighting prowess. And now, he announces “The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3” – with Jin as a lure to draw Ogre out into the open. This book is a great start for Tekken ComicsBy KDHStuduosAs a Tekken and comics enthusiast I had to buy this book because this is a fresh new start for Tekken in the world of comics ever since Tekken Forever back in the late 90's. This comic goes in depth of Tekken's history and provides a rich story with Tekken's diverse cast. Although the story goes off on its own it introduces elements from the upcoming Tekken 7 and does a little back tracking as to why Jin Kazama, became evil and declared war against the world in Tekken 6. The fight sequences were very detailed which goes to say the same for the artwork, Titan Comics is working on something grand with this new Tekken project and I'm already stoked for the next issue. (I bought this Kindle version because I couldn't wait for all four issues to be released this December.) If you want the hard copy I believe you can find it in the store but I ordered mine from the site.

  • Tekken's Mokujin and the Disjunctive Synthesis of Gender
Press Start Mokujin and Gender Tekken’s Mokujin and the Disjunctive Synthesis of Gender Performativity Vasileios Galanos Science, Technology, and Innovation Studies Subject Group School of Social and Political Sciences University of Edinburgh Abstract Given the ever-growing array of available choices of genders in games, this paper investigates how novel gender types emerge and how the performative transition from one gender to another occurs. A fighting video game character, Tekken’s Mokujin, is employed as a metaphor to explain such processes because of the character’s ability to imitate every other character’s fighting style according to an algorithm which randomly switches Mokujin’s fighting performance in the beginning of every game round. The Mokujin-gender metaphor is then strengthened by philosopher Gilles Deleuze’s notion of disjunctive synthesis, as an attempt to provide a more robust theoretical explanatory framework for the processes of novel gender generation and selection of gender performativity. Therefore, the contribution of this paper is twofold. On the one hand, the specific area of gender performativity is enriched through the study of a video game character acting as a metaphor. On the other, while traditional game studies often intersects with gender studies, mostly in negative cases of the perpetuation of gender stereotypes, this paper shows that the opposite is also possible: Gender studies can benefit from the study of fictitious video game characters that enact, embody, and enable different possibilities. • Tekken – Das Böse in Dir (2002 Ff)
© Miriam Schäfer – Tekken – Das Böse in Dir (2002 ff) Tekken – Das Böse in Dir (Eine Tekken Fanfiction ) Kapitel I - Hwoarang „Suchst du Streit?“ Hwoarang kochte vor Wut. „Was glaubst du eigentlich, wer du bist, hm?

  • The Black Belt and the the Pixelated World: Street Fighter
The Black Belt and the Idea of You might have heard someone say “he has a black belt in cooking” (or in anything else—I just happen to be thinking of food at the moment). People use this metaphor to express a mastery in some activity or field. At the opposite end of the spectrum exists the “white belt”, which people use in a similar metaphoric fashion to express a lack of skill. Both comparisons have their roots in the realm of martial arts, the black belt corresponding to a high rank and exceptional skill in the practice and white, the beginner’s belt. The black belt has come to symbolize ultimate expertise when it even isn’t currently the highest rank in martial arts (10th degree Black Belt) and I believe it has developed alongside the growth of the enchanting world of . Videogames. The Pixelated World: Street Fighter Jumping back to 1987, Street Fighter debuts, with its popular protagonist Ryu (pictured left) who is depicted wearing a white dobok and a black belt adorning his waist. Ryu, through his skill, earns his spot to fight in the World Warrior Tournament, highlighting the proficiency Ryu obtains. Simply looking at the moves Ryu employs in his fights displays a series of complex movements and techniques that would require a high, if not impossible, skill level to execute (save for those special moves; they don’t count). Ken Masters and Dan Hibiki, two other game characters, include a black belt in their wardrobe as well (interesting side note: the word “Dan”, while also a name, denotes the black belt ranks).
