Los Angeles Mission College 20-21 Studies Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT)

The Associate in Arts (A.A.) Degree in Communication Studies will provide the student with a firm basic foundation in the principles of effective communication, communication processes and communication styles. This degree will allow the student to transfer to a CSU as a Communication Studies major or in a related major. The Communication Studies Major is an interdisciplinary degree which will allow students to study the communicative act from the perspective of such diverse disciplines as , , , , and . Communication Studies may lead to the following career opportunities in: , , , Government, Publishing, Advertising/, /Cable/Corporate Video, Human Relations and Production. Students who complete this degree will be guaranteed admission with junior status to the California State University system, although not a particular campus or major. Students receiving this transfer degree must meet the following requirements: (1) Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including completion of: (A) The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) OR the California State University General Education (CSUGE) (B) A minimum of 18 semester units in a major or area of emphasis, as listed below. (2) Obtain of a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (3) Obtain a grade of “C” or better in each course required for the major or a grade of “P” if the major course is taken on a “P/NP” basis.
