High Point All Around (HPAA) Vic Monteleon Memorial Trophy, donated by Ray Carlisle, Red/White/Blue Rosette The High Point All Around Award will be calculated as follows:  UDC Breed Survey (maximum of 2 points): 1 point for entering and competing, 1 point for qualifying.  UDC Obedience (maximum of 3 points for EACH trial: 1 point for entering and competing, 1 point for qualifying, 1 point for HIT. Dogs competing in TWO classes in obedience can earn points for each entry. For example a dog entering and qualifying in both novice and open (or open and utility) would earn 4 points for competing and qualifying in both, with a potential 5th point if they go HIT.  UDC Conformation (maximum of 3 points for EACH show): 1 point for entering and competing, 1 point for qualifying (E‐ rating), 1 point for Best Adult.  IPO FPr (tracking) (maximum of 3 points): 1 point for entering and competing, 1 point for qualifying, 1 point for High in IPO FPr  IPO UPr (obedience) (maximum of 3 points): 1 point for entering and competing, 1 point for qualifying, 1 point for High in IPO FPr.  IPO APr (obedience and protection) (maximum of 5 points): 1 point for entering and competing in each phase, 1 point for each phase qualifying, 1 point for High IPO APr  IPO trial (maximum of 7 points): 1 point for entering and competing in each phase, 1 point for each phase qualifying, 1 point for High in IPO.  Temperament Tests and BH’s earn NO points. In the event of a tie: dogs entered in the IPO trial will be ranked higher than dogs not entered in the IPO trial, and a dog with a passing protection score will be ranked higher than a dog without, and the dog with the highest passing protection score will be ranked higher than other entries, whether or not the dog qualified in all three phases of the IPO trial. If there is no dog tied for HPAA that entered and participated in the IPO trial, a dog entered in obedience will be given precedence over a dog not entered in obedience, and in all cases, the highest obedience score earned will decide the tie. 3 Judges and Presenters

Nazarene Mondello My attraction to the Doberman was fueled by a nurse that I worked with at the hospital. She now owns a poodle..is that next? I went to dog shows and started at the top.....then when that was not in sight, we did obedience. So onward and upward and here we are.

My successes in dogs have been: An AKC CH.ROM, UDC Conformation CH., UDC IPO National CH.x2, AWDF Team 2nd place, AWDF Executive BOD and limited breeding.

I am a Past President UDC, PDPC, and currently serve on the BOD of FDKC, and have held various positions within these organizations. The dogs that I have owned have done some form of competition. They have all been Therapy dogs, as I feel that is a necessary component to our Breed. It is showing the public that these dogs are social and balanced.

Everyone in my house works..work keeps your mind busy and happy and you feel fulfilled. What else is there in life? How best can we share our gift of teaching, but with a dog by our side. My achievements are few compared to others, however, my determination and dedication to the Breed is unquestionable.

It is a pleasure to be asked to do Temperament Tests at the 25th UDC National and I will continue to support the opportunities for growth in our organization. Please join us in celebrating this wonderful achievement.

James Edwards, Ph. D. (Zoology/Genetics) Jim Edwards was born in Evansville, Indiana, and he graduated from Evansville College in 1960. In 1964 he received a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Zoology (with research in Genetics) from Utah State University. A Professor of Biology for twenty-seven years (St. Francis College, PA, and Salem College, NC), with course responsibilities in comparative anatomy, genetics, evolution, zoology, and human genetics, he retired from teaching in 1991. At Salem he taught January term courses in the Biology of Dogs, having begun a breeding/exhibiting program in Bloodhounds in 1973. He is an Honorary Lifetime Member of the American Bloodhound Club, and he received the Distinguished Service Award in 1986 and the Meritorious Service Award in 2005.

In 1991 he joined the New York Staff of the AKC as the Director of Judging Research & Development. In 1996 he was named Director of DNA Operations and Educational Services for the AKC; he retired from the AKC in 2000. He began his judging career thirty-plus years ago, and he has judged throughout the United States, in England, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and China. In August, 2012, he judged conformation at the “Working Dobermanns of the Carolinas” Show in Durham, NC. He is most grateful for the honor of judging conformation at the UDC’s 25th Nationals in Lexington, KY.

Victoria Brown When I got my first job I promised myself that I would get two things – a convertible and a German Shepherd Dog and I did. Years of watching Rin Tin convinced me that a German Shepherd Dog was the only breed for me. I have owned German Shepherd Dogs for about 45 years. I did not show that first dog, but did begin subscribing to the AKC Gazette where I learned about obedience trials. I attended several and vowed that my next Shepherd would be an obedience dog. I have titled my Shepherds in agility, obedience, tracking, herding and rally. I currently have several GSD’s and a Cairn Terrier. I am a Canine Ambassador for the AKC and give programs for children on how to be safe around dogs.

I became interested in judging when I was titling my first utility shepherd. I have been an obedience judge for more than 25 years and a rally judge since the program began. I love judging and have met many wonderful people and been to many places in my career. I especially enjoy working with the newer exhibitors and hopefully helping them on their way to a long career in obedience. I am a retired educator originally from the state of New Jersey. I moved to North Carolina about ten years ago in order to get a large piece of property for my dogs. 4 Nancy E Christensen My first Doberman came into my heart and home in the summer of 1974, I have never been without at least one Doberman since that time. That first one, Clyde A Scope UD, traveled with me to many horse shows and rodeos as my companion and protector, as well as earning multiple HITs and OTCH points- and getting me hooked on the breed for life!

My foundation bitch was purchased from Betty Brockman James in 1979,, Silent Sentry's Renaissance CD WAC (AKC pointed). One of her puppies was my first Champion, 1984 DPCA Top 20 and multiple BIS/BISS winner, Renejade The Jazz Singer CD ROM. In 1988, I imported a beautiful black dog from England who became the first Doberman to finish an AKC Championship with natural ears. This was CH Findjan's Outrage CD ROM. He sired my first Doberman, UDC CH Renejade Windsor v Jazlin CDX WAC ScH3 ZTP CGC VCX. Many of Jack's kids lived well into double digits, with several into their teens.

In 1999, I imported a black male from Germany who became Querinius vom Lindenhof ScH3 ZTP WAC CGC, better known as Cynic. He was the dog that taught me to love tracking, We were getting ready to do the FH and compete in rally and agility at the time of his death from cancer in June of 2005 when he was just six years old. The first brown Doberman at Renejade was UKC/UDC/INt'l CH Come As You Are Inelya Renejade CD RA CGC WAC, Nell was a wonderful bitch who also succumbed to cancer at too young an age. She had one litter, from which I kept a black male, UKC/AKC CH Renejade Fast Fletcher WAC.

With my Dobermans, I have competed and titled in many areas of performance- AKC obedience up to the UD and OTCH points, agility and Schutzhund to ScH3. In addition, Dobermans of my breeding have been successfully titled and competitive in tracking, , agility, AKC obedience, dancing and Schutzhund. I have been extremely proud of the Renejade dogs who have certified and been used in SAR.

I was approved by AKC in February 2006 as a regular Doberman judge and served on the DPCA Board from 2006 to 2010. It has been a great honor to judge at the DPCA National Specialty in 2009, at the 2009 Top 20 and Pre-National show in Argentina, and at several wonderful specialties around the country. My greatest enjoyment of judging is simply being privileged to see and touch all the beautiful Dobermans! I love them all and often hate to have to choose just one!

Thank you to the United Doberman Club and Host Club Working Dobermans of the Carolinas; for the opportunity to come visit your world, meet new friends and see the beautiful Dobermans!

Ray Carlisle Ray Carlisle has owned and cared for dogs most of his life. He purchased his first Doberman in 1961 and there began a lifelong “love affair” with the breed.

An avid student of the Doberman, Ray has developed a well-planned and successful breeding program, under the kennel name “CARA”. Since becoming an AKC licensed judge in 1981, Ray has had the honor of judging many National Specialties around the world including the Doberman Pinscher Club of America and the United Doberman Club. In addition to his domestic judging assignments, Ray has also accepted invitations to judge internationally in Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Uruguay, Venezuela, Estonia, South Africa and Canada. He has also judged specialties in Australia and Germany as well as the DPCA Top 20 in 1991 and 1998. Ray is also an active member in good standing with The American Judges, Inc., The Dog Show Judges of America, Inc. and The Senior Conformation Judges Assoc., Inc.

A founding member of the United Doberman Club, Ray served for 2 years as its first President. He continues to serve as an officer, conformation judge, and temperament tester. He co-chaired the War Dog Committee, and is responsible for having erected the statue “Always Faithful” in Guam in honor of the courageous Doberman Pinschers that valiantly served during the war in the Pacific. He has also been an active member of the DPCA for many years, serving as its President and Vice-President for 4 years, and Director for 6 years. He also served on several DPCA committees including Judges Education and, was Chairman of the DPCA Schutzhund Committee. He presently serves on their ROM committee and is a Register of Merit Evaluator.

5 A licensed Great Dane judge and member of the Great Dane Club of America, Ray is also past President and member of the Rockland County Kennel Club (all breed), member of DVG and USA Schutzhund clubs, member of the Abteilund Kiel (Doberman Verein in Germany), founding member and past President of the Doberman Pinscher Club of the Tappan Zee, and a member of the Great Dane Club of America. He served as President and Treasurer of the American Working Dog Federation (AWDF) since its inception. In 2003, Ray was approved by the AKC to judge German Pinschers and had the honor of judging the first AKC National Championship for the German Pinscher Club of America (GPCA).

During the 1970’s Ray published Top Dobe and The World of The Working Dog magazines. It was during that time that he originated the “Top 20” event, later turning it over to the DPCA. The event has not only endured, it has become one of the most prestigious and well-attended of Doberman events. It has been hosted annually in conjunction with the DPCA National Specialty since 1973, celebrating it’s 32nd anniversary this year. A number of other national breed clubs in the U.S. and abroad now hold their own Top 20 events.

Ray and his family share their home in Warwick, NY with several Dobermans.

Carla Griffith Carla started training schutzhund with her Doberman named Jack in 1984. She joined the United Schutzhund Clubs of America in 1985. Currently a member of the Greater Dallas working dog club, Carla serves as the club’s training director. Carla has had the opportunity of titling several dogs to various titles. She received her judge’s license in 1998 and has judged many club trials, regional, Nationals and many different Breeds championships. Carla works as a registered veterinary technician in a small animal practice in north Dallas and is currently training two German shepherds. Carla wishes all the competitors the best of Luck.

Irene Koretev Irene Korotev has been active in SAR since 1984. She has trained 4 of her Dobermans to operational status in air scent, human remains, evidence, trailing, and is currently working toward that goal with her fifth dog. Her operational dog, Jäger, was the DPCA’s 2008 SAR Dog of the Year. Irene has been the training officer for Missouri Search & Rescue K-9 for many years.

6 Extra information about the events:

UDC OBEDIENCE TRIALS on Wednesday, April 15th and Thursday, April 16th under AKC Judge Victoria Brown. UDC obedience requires that teams demonstrate mastery of basic skills (Novice classes) or advanced skills (Open & Utility). Please read the obedience rules in the UDC Performance Manual available at http://uniteddobermanclub.com/manuals/Performance_Manual_2015.pdf before entering. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PERFORMANCE MANUAL HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH A NUMBER OF REVISIONS.

Novice A is for Dobermans who do not have any obedience titles in AKC, UKC, CKC, other registry, or U.S.A./DVG. Dogs holding a “BH” or any Schutzhund/IPO title must enter Novice B. Note: There will be no refunds for a bitch in season if she is not allowed to compete. Bitches in season will be allowed to compete under the following conditions: 1) She must be the last dog to show after all classes are completed prior to HIT being awarded. 2) She is not eligible for run offs. 3) She must be kept out of the obedience area until called for her class. 4) Ribbons for the class in which she is entered will be awarded after she has completed her routine. 5) A demonstration dog must be available if there is only one bitch in season. In the event of two-day trial (which is the case this year), she will only be able to show in the last trial unless a separate obedience ring is available. Notify Alissa Weaver, obedience chair, as soon as you determine your entered bitch will be in season so that the chances that you will be allowed to show will be maximized.

UDC TEMPERAMENT TESTS on Tuesday, April 14th under UDC Judge Nazarene Mondello The UDC requires that all Conformation entries take a UDC TT prior to showing. Dogs need not pass to show. TT’s are divided by age and level of training: PTT for the Puppy Classes, YTT for the Youth Classes, ATT for Adult Classes or STT for the Sport Class. Dogs that have the AFFB, GFFB, D-ZTP or BSA are automatically eligible for the Working Class without taking the SST. Dogs that have the FFB or BSB do not have to take the ATT. See the UDC Breed Manual available at www.uniteddobermanclub.com for additional details. Non-UDC registered dogs must have proof of titles and papers available for review. All entrants will receive a written evaluation as proof of participation.
