  • Intro to Archery
INTRODUCTION TO ARCHERY TARGET ARCHERY This the most commonly practiced form of archery worldwide and is practiced within most Archery Australia clubs. Target tournaments are conducted regularly and held both indoors and outdoors. Shooting distances vary from 18 metres (indoor) to 90 metres (outdoor), with target sizes being 40 or 60 centimetres for indoors and either 80 or 122 centimetres for outdoors. Targets have five colours with each colour being divided into 2 to provide 10 scoring zones. The innermost ring is given a value of 10 points, down to the outermost ring with a value of 1 point. Target rounds involve shooting a set number of arrows over one or several distances. Indoor events involve shooting a total of either 30 or 60 arrows; with outdoor events shooting 72, 90, 120 or 144 arrows are shot. FIELD ARCHERY Field archery is a challenging outdoor discipline in which the archer takes on the terrain as well as the target. Field archery is a combination of archery, golf, and bush walking. A course is set up in a bush land setting taking advantage of hills, slopes, angles and light and shade. A field course is made up of either 24 or 28 targets depending on the round being shot. The archer is required to shoot either three or four arrows at each target. Distances range from 10 to 60 metres and target face sizes vary from 20 to 80 centimetres. CLOUT ARCHERY Clout archery is another popular discipline in Australia because due to its fun aspect. Clout archery is derived from medieval warfare where archers would lob arrows onto the advancing army.

WADA Technical Document for Sport Specific Analysis Version Number:4.03.1 Written By: TDSSA Expert Group Approved By: WADA Executive Committee Date: 145 November 20187 Effective Date: 1 January 20198 1. Introduction As part of WADA’s move towards ensuring Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) implement more intelligent and effective anti-doping programs, Article 5.4.1 of the 2015 World Anti-Doping Code (WADC2015) states – “WADA, in consultation with International Federations and other Anti-Doping Organizations, will adopt a Technical Document under the International Standard for Testing and Investigations (ISTI) that establishes by means of a risk assessment which Prohibited Substances and/or Prohibited Methods are most likely to be abused in particular sports and sports disciplines.” This Technical Document for Sport Specific Analysis (TDSSA) is intended to ensure that the Prohibited Substances and/or Prohibited Methods within the scope of the TDSSA and other tools that support the detection of Prohibited Substances and/or identify the Use of Prohibited Methods such as the Athlete Biological Passport are subject to an appropriate and consistent level of analysis and adoption by all ADOs that conduct Testing in those sports/disciplines deemed at risk. Compliance with the TDSSA is mandatory under the WADC2015. The development of the TDSSA is based on a scientific approach linking physiological and non- physiological demand of Athlete performance with the potential ergogenic benefit of those Prohibited Substances and/or Prohibited Methods within the scope of the TDSSA. The TDSSA complements other anti-doping tools and programs such as the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP), intelligence gathering and investigations.

  • 2021 Guide to Gymnastics Team
At Spokane Gymnastics, the coaches focus on encouraging the development of strength, skill and character through gymnastics training in a positive environment. We strive to offer a program where every student has the greatest opportunity to succeed, no matter what their level or goal. We strive to balance teaching proper gymnastics skills, terminology and progressions in a fun environment where students are taught by breaking down the elements of the particular skills, hands- on “spotting” and training, low student-to-coach ratios and positive reinforcement. We believe that gymnastics is not only one of the most rewarding sports with unlimited benefits to other activities, but also FUN! Gymnastics not only increases strength, flexibility and balance, it is also encourages hard work, discipline and determination. Women's Artistic Gymnastics There are four events in Women's Artistic Gymnastics – Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise. Although most sports have seasons, gymnastics is a year-round commitment for athletes at the upper levels. Vault A successful vault begins with a strong, accelerated run. The best vaulters explode off the springboard with tremendous quickness during the pre-flight phase of the vault. When the gymnast pushes off of the vault table (also informally referred to as the horse) judges look for proper body position and instantaneous propulsion and explosive force. They watch the height and distance traveled as well as the number of flips and twists. Gymnasts strive to stick their landing by taking no extra steps. Uneven Bars Many consider the uneven bars the most spectacular of women's events, since to be successful the gymnasts must display strength as well as concentration, courage, coordination and split-second timing.
