Team RBs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt are the only pair of RB teammates in the league this season with at least 800 rushing yards (through 1 p.m. ET games). They’re also the only pair of RBs on the same team with at least 10 scrimmage touchdowns (each have 11). The Browns now have three blocked kicks this season, second most in the NFL. o The three blocked kicks are the second most by the team in a season since 2000. o The team blocked two kicks in a game for the first time since Week 4 of 2009 versus Cincinnati and third time since 2000.
Baker Mayfield QB Baker Mayfield threw 28 completions for 285 yards this afternoon. He passed Frank Ryan (907) for the fifth most by a Brown in history (915). Mayfield also passed Carson Palmer (10,768) for the fifth-most passing yards by a No. 1 pick in his first three seasons (10,919).
Myles Garrett DE Myles Garrett recorded a sack today and now has 12 on the year, fifth in the NFL and second in the AFC (through 1 p.m. ET games). Tied Clay Matthews (1984) for fourth on the Browns’ single-season sacks list with 12. Garrett’s 42.5 career sacks are the sixth most by a player in his first 50 career games. His 42.5 career sacks are the fifth-most sacks by a first-round pick in his first 49 games. His 42.5 career sacks are the second-most sacks by a No. 1 overall pick in his first four years, behind only Bruce Smith (44.5). Garrett is one of only five players to have at least 42.5 sacks since 2017. Garrett’s eight sacks versus the Jets since 2017 are the most by a player against any non-division team in the NFL.
Nick Chubb RB Nick Chubb led the team with 28 rushing yards on 11 carries with a touchdown. Chubb is seventh in the NFL in rushing yards (959) and tied for fourth in rushing touchdowns with 11. Chubb now has 34 career games of 50-plus scrimmage yards, tying Kevin Mack for the most games by a Brown in his first three years and second by a Brown in his first 43 career games (since 1970). Chubb tied Earnest Byner (27) for seventh place on the Browns’ all-time rushing touchdowns list today. Chubb scored his 11th rushing touchdown of the season today, tying for the eighth-highest single- season total in Browns history and most by a Brown since Trent Richardson in 2012 (11). Set a season high with 38 receiving yards and tied a career high with five receptions.
Denzel Ward CB Denzel Ward reached a new single-season career high (18) in pass breakups, after notching one this afternoon. Ward is currently tied for second the NFL with 18 passes defensed (through 1 p.m. ET games). Ward’s 18 passes defensed are the most by a Brown since Joe Haden (20) and Buster Skrine (18) in 2014. Ward’s 40 career passes defensed are tied for seventh in the NFL since 2018 (through 1 p.m. ET games). Ward’s 40 career passes defensed rank second by a third-year player or younger in the NFL since 2018. Ward’s 40 career passes defensed are now second by a Brown in his third year or younger. His 40 passes defensed are also the second most by a Brown who has played in 37 career games or less. Ward is fourth in passes defensed by an active player in 37 career games or less.
Other Notes DT Sheldon Richardson blocked a Jets PAT attempt in the second quarter and a Jets field goal attempt in the third quarter, the first blocked kicks of his career. o First Brown to block two kicks in a game since Shaun Rogers in Week 4 of 2009. DE Olivier Vernon posted his eighth sack of the season, his most since he totaled 8.5 in 2016. o Vernon’s eight sacks have all come since Week 8, tied for the second most in NFL in that span. TE Austin Hooper set season highs with seven catches for 71 yards. TE David Njoku caught a season-high four passes. Injury Report LBs Tae Davis and Sione Takitaki left the game with ankle injuries and did not return.
