And we wish the entire community a blessed Eidul-Fitr. Eidul-Fitr will be on Tuesday June 4, inshaAllah. Three sessions of salatul-Eid are planned at the center. Tak- beer will begin at 6:30 AM, 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM re- spectively. The prayers will begin at 7:00 AM, 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM, inshaAllah. Eid celebrations for children will be on Eid day from 5:30 PM till 8:30 PM in the MCA parking lot. Then on Friday (June 7) evening an indoor potluck will be held with children’s shows. Khatm will be on Sunday June 2. Given that Eid will be on a work day, we urge everyone to park vehicles responsibly. A good part of the park- ing lot at the Hope building (MCA 3.0) at 3080 Alfred St. will be available. Also, the Vanguard parking lot on Alfred Street will be available all day. Additionally, we have secured use of one of the three parking lots locat- ed at the Shenzhen Bay Innovation Center at 3120 Scott Boulevard. This lot is the one physically closest to San Tomas Expressway. Volunteers will be guiding traffic. We urge you to arrive early and settle down for prayers, and then after the prayers leave quickly in order to make room for those arriving for the next session. As always we have been asking contributions of $125 from families as well as singles toward Ramadan expenses. Our projection is that the total expense this month will exceed $150K. This pays for the following: trash pickup, water bill and drinking water, electricity, babysitting and I Love Islam program, janitorial labor, janitorial supplies, the annual open house program, Eid entertainment program for families, iftar supplies, etc. This Ramadan the Iftar supplies will cost twice as much due to the Green Initiative; we have been buying compostable supplies which cost much more. Another item that will cost more is security. We are hopeful that on average 1200 contributions of $125 each will be re- ceived, inshaAllah, but we encourage you to contribute more if you can. The MCA Eid bazaar was held on Saturday May 25 inside the 3.0 building. A total of 60 vendors partici- pated. We talked to numerous vendors and shoppers to collect feedback. Vendors were very satisfied with fairness of the arrangements. We are adopting institu- tional approach toward our operations. Consequently this year’s bazaar was organized and managed by MCA staff, and not by volunteers. • The-Muslim-Guide-To-The-Eid-Prayer
The Muslim Guide to the Eid prayer Muslims only have two Eids When Prophet (salalahu alaihi wa sallam) migrated to Madeenah, he found that they had two days in which they would celebrate. So the Prophet (salalahu alaihi wa sallam) said: ‘I came to you and you had, in Jaahileeyah two days for play and amusement. Indeed Allaah has replaced them for you by that which is better than them: The day of Nahr (i.e. Eid al-Adha) and the day of Fitr (Eid al-Fitr).’ (Saheeh. Reported by Aḥmad). Both Eids, which are chosen for us by Allah, follow the conclusion of two great acts of worship, the fasting of Ramadan and the Hajj. During this time of joy and happiness, the Muslim celebrates but does not forget his Lord. 1. Prior to the Eid prayer a) taking a bath It is recommended to take a ghusl on the morning of Eid. This is based upon the practice of a number of Companions. It is reported that Ibn ‘Umar and ‘Alī would take a ghusl on the day of Eid. (Bayhaqi and the Musannaf of Abdul al-Razaaq). b) wear your best clothes Allah’s Messenger would wear his best clothes to the Eid prayer. He (salalahu alaihi wa sallam) had an overgarment lined with red, which he would wear on the two Eids. (Tabarani). Men are encouraged to wear perfume as stated by Imām Mālik. c) eating It is recommended to eat early on the morning of Eid al-Fitr to show that the fasting has ended.
