This is an interview with Lindy Mallet/Petrelis who started a clothing fashion business in in the 1960s. She initially started work at Channel 9 in 1965 and during the interview she talks extensively of the beginnings and impact of television in Perth. With an early interest in fashion she started her own modelling agency at home and was the first of the modern women designers in Perth like Ruth Tarvydas and Liz Davenport. She would start her first shop Lindy's Hideout in Murray Street. She talks of the many changes that she has witnessed in fashion in Perth as one of the pioneers of the Perth fashion and her 5 decades of work in the industry. She talks of designing, making, modelling and selling her clothes. She would sell to private clients as well as to department stores like Boans. She would have 5 shops in Perth being initially based in the old Liberty Theatre site in Barrack street. Lindy describes the competitive scene of Perth in the 1960s and 70s while looking at the business community and the close friendly rivalry between businesses in an isolated city. She looks at her success and speaks of the success of others as part of an 'In Crowd' of Perth in a fledgling, vibrant and individual fashion industry.
