Tickets at: www.SINGTORONTO.com On behalf of our board of directors, organizing team, performers, and clinicians, thank you for attending the fifth annual SING! The Toronto Vocal Arts Festival, Canada’s premier a cappella music festival., voted one of the Top 100 Festivals in Ontario by Festivals and Events Ontario in 2014 and 2015. We are again showcasing the best in vocal talent, all bringing their rich vocal traditions. They span a smorgasbord of influences and genres, including: pop, rock, jazz, choral, barbershop, world, gospel, folk, live looping, beat boxing, and improv comedy. SING! provides the perfect opportunity to sample something new: to be part of this exciting, spontaneous, evolving art form. Whether you’re already an a cappella fan, a musician who wants to learn more from experts, or simply a patron who enjoys good music, SING! is the place to be. With more than 30 concerts, inspiring workshops, and other events, we invite you to experience all that SING! offers. Along with our spectacular headliner artists, we are delighted to present an eclectic line-up of Signature events, including: Trip the Light Fantastic, a stunning interdisciplinary concert that pairs eclectic vocal groups with professional dancers, SING! Swings, where you'll hear billboard chart toppers of the past 40 years re-imagined as jazz standards, NFB SINGS!, where National Film Board shorts are underscored by a diverse collection of vocal artists, and our Global Voices day, where audience members can learn from, participate in, and enjoy music from all around the world. We're thrilled to present our Slaight Music Legacy Award on May 14 at the Nylons Farewell Toronto concert to The Nylons, an international icon and Canadian treasure, who ushered in a new era for Canadian a cappella and went on to wow audiences for 38 years. They are the fifth recipient of this prestigious award. We fondly remember Michael Burgess, our first honouree, who passed away last September. He was a brilliant tenor with a spellbinding voice that inspired generations of singers, and a warm-hearted humanitarian who gave endlessly of his time and lent his voice to countless charities. He was a great supporter of SING! and our artists. SING! is made possible by the generosity of our sponsors, partners, supporters, and our many volunteers. Whether you are here to take in some of our world-class performances, to expand your musical horizons in a workshop, or to sing with us, thank you for joining us as we discover that the voice knows no limits.
