The Haverford Skatium 1002 Darby Road Havertown, PA 19083 This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and is a currently a registered member of a U.S. Figure Skating member club or a collegiate club which is also a member of the Association of Philadelphia Area Figure Skating Clubs, or an individual member in accordance with current rulebook and who resides in the Philadelphia Area. (Philadelphia Area is defined as being within a 110 mile radius of city hall.) Entries from members of probationary clubs will be accepted provided the entry is accompanied by a signed certification by the skater that he/she is properly qualified to enter the events mentioned. ELIGIBILITY/TEST LEVEL

Test level: Competition level is the highest test passed as of the entry deadline, in the discipline the skater is entering. Entrants may skate one level above that for which they qualify, but they may not skate down in any event. Skaters may skate at different levels in different events, but they cannot do so in the same event.

Age restrictions/requirements: Skaters entering Juvenile free skate events (Well Balanced Program) must be under 12 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering Open Juvenile free skate events (Well Balanced Program), must be at least 13 years of age at the close of entries.

Skaters entering beginner – pre-juvenile events will be divided as closely as possible by age, should the number of entries warrant more than one group.

ENTRIES: ALL entries are online via Entry eeze. Online entry with secure credit card payment is available at www.delawarecountyskatingclub.org. Deadline for online entries,without late fees, is no later than 11:59pm est March 18th, 2018. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) reserves the right to limit entries in each category and the right to combine, divide, or cancel events. No changes may be made to a competitor’s application once the deadline has passed. Late entries entered online March 19th or after, may be accepted at the discretion of the LOC and will require a late fee of $50, in addition to event(s) entry fee(s). Notification of competition and practice ice times will NOT be available by phone. No paper entries will be accepted but we will be happy to help you register. Entry Fees: $145 per skater or couple for the first IJS event; $80 per event for the 2nd and all subsequent IJS events $110 per event per skater or couple for the first 6.0 event; $60 per event for the 2nd and all subsequent 6.o events Please note: If you are entering an IJS event and a 6.o event the IJS event is considered the first event.

EVENT CHANGE FEE: No changes to the schedule will be allowed due to personal or family conflicts. Any requests for event/level changes(not due to an LOC error) after the application has been received will be processed upon receipt of a $25,00 change fee. NO changes will be made after the entries are sent to the chief referee.

REFUND POLICY: Entry fees will not be refunded after entry deadline, unless no competition exists or the event is canceled. There will be no refunds for medical withdrawals. The online processing fees are not refundable.

SCHEDULE: A copy of the schedule will be posted on entryeeze. Please note that the schedule is prepared by the head referee after the close date of entries and is strictly based on the number of events and competitors and the availability of judges. Skaters’ and coaches’ schedules will be posted on the web and entry eeze. ALL COMPETITORS NEED TO ARRIVE AND BE READY TO SKATE 1 HOUR BEFORE THEIR SCHEDULED EVENT.

Practice Ice: Practice Ice will be available after the schedule is made for an additional $16 fee per 30 min session. Reservations for practice ice will be accepted on entry eeze after the schedule is posted. Details on purchasing practice ice will be emailed after the schedule is posted.

FACILITIES: The competition will be held at The Haverford Skatium, 1002 Darby Road, Havertown, PA 19083. The ice surface is standard NHL regulation size 200 x 85’. The Skatium is a full service facility equipped with locker rooms, full stand seating, and a on – site eatery Have-A- Burger. Wawa is located adjacent to the Skatium.

MUSIC: The official competition music must be turned in at the registration table at the time of check-in. CDs will be the only form of medium accepted. A duplicate CD must be readily available at rink side. Music may be picked up at the registration table following each event. Every reasonable care will be taken, but the Delaware County Skating Club cannot be responsible for CDs left at the end of the competition. Please have separate CDs per each event.

LIABILITY: U.S. Figure Skating, Crossroads Figure Skating Club, and The Haverford Skatium, accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook.

JUDGING SYSTEM: NEW THIS YEAR: IJS for Pre-juvenile and Above Well Balanced events and Adult events.

The International Judging System (IJS) will be used for Pre – Juvenile and Above Well- Balanced events and Adult events.

All competitors skating using IJS events will need to submit the planned program content form online. This form is found in the Member’s Only section at www.usfigureskating.org. The deadline to submit the form is April 1st, 2018. The 6.0 Majority Judging System will be used for all other events.

LOCKER ROOMS AND CHANGING AREAS: Locker Rooms and Changing Area protocol is in accordance with the policy outlined in the SafeSport Handbook. Separate female and male changing facilities will be available the day of the competition.

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY: Will be available for purchase the day of the event.

AWARDS: Medals will be presented for First, Second, Third, and Fourth place finishers in each event. For basic skills events, skaters that do not place First, Second, Third, or Fourth place will be awarded participation medals.

INFORMATION REGARDING COACHES: U.S. Figure Skating Rule MR 5.11 Coach Registration In order to be granted access to work within U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned activities, each coach must complete the following requirements on an annual basis by July 1: A. Must be a current full member of U.S. Figure Skating - either through a member club or as an individual member; B. Must complete the coach registration process through the U.S. Figure Skating Members Only site, submit proper payment for the annual registration fee of $30 and, if 18 years of age or older, successfully pass the background screen. C. Must complete the appropriate CER courses (A, B, C or D) depending on the highest level of students being coached as of July 1. See rule MR 5.12. D. Must submit proof of current general liability insurance with limits of $1 million per occurrence/$5 million aggregate.

For Learn to Skate USA ONLY coaches - Any person, 18 and older, instructing a Learn to Skate USA Program must have successfully passed the annual background screen, be registered as a Learn to Skate USA instructor and completed the Learn to Skate USA Instructor Certification or U.S. Figure Skating Coach Compliance. The local organizing committee/club will have a list of compliant coaches who are cleared for a credential at the competition. Coaches will need to check in at the event registration desk and show a government issued photo I.D. to receive a credential.

If a coach cannot provide a photo I.D, is not on the list of compliant coaches, or cannot produce the necessary documents, he or she will not be allowed a credential – no exceptions. We strongly urge all coaches to have their cards with them. Non-credentialed coaches will not be permitted in the designated coaching area at rink side during events including practice sessions. This will be enforced. Coaching at U.S. Figure Skating events without proper registration is an ethics violation, which is reported to U.S. Figure Skating and PSA.

Vendor: Vendors will be set up throughout the competition.

EVENT: Solo Pattern Dance

General event parameters: 4. Levels are based upon the skaters’ highest pattern dance test passed. 5. A solo pattern dance competition event will consist of the skater performing two solo pattern dances. 6. The patterns to be skated depend upon which quarter of the year the competition is held. The skater will perform the two pattern dances listed for their level, based upon the date of the competition. If the competition falls over two quarters (for example, June 30th – July 2nd), the dance will be selected based on the start date of the competition listed in the announcement (in this example, the 2nd quarter). 7. Skaters will complete both of the dances at each level. Dances will be scheduled at the discretion of the Chief Referee for each competition and may be competed consecutively or with a break in-between pattern dances groupings.

* For the US Adult Championships and adult sectional championships, skaters must meet the test requirements for the level at which they want to compete; rules 2540-2552 apply,; and the same level must be chosen for all showcase events at the competition (for example, a skater may not compete in Masters Dramatic Entertainment and Adult Gold Light Entertainment events at the same competition). Adult athletes wishing to be grandfathered into a higher level based on participation at the Adult Championships or National Showcase prior to 4/30/17 may make this request to the National Vice Chair for National Showcase. For all other competitions, skaters must compete at their test level or one level higher, per the above chart. EVENT: Showcase Events – Interpretive Events

Format: Interpretive is a performance choreographed by the competitor, unaccompanied and unassisted, to music supplied by the competition committee / LOC. Programs should incorporate various elements of expressive movement and skating moves, to enhance the skater’s interpretation of the music, rather than technical elements. • The music will be played continuously during a 30-minute off-ice session in a room and twice during an on-ice warm-up prior to the performance. o The room will be attended only by the adult monitor assigned to play the music and the competing skaters. • After the warm up, skaters will go back to a room, with no music being played. • Skaters will be brought to the ice when the previous skater finishes. • All competitors in an event will interpret the same music. • Props are permitted but must be brought into the room prior to listening to the music, and be taken to the ice only when the skater is called to perform. Props may not be pre- positioned on the performance surface.
