4 History
Mr. Rahul Deshmukh (President) was denied to the Hostel admission due to his blindness when he came to Pune for his College education.
He had to take the shelter on the Railways platform for many days
He realized that these problems are not only his problems but all visually challenged students are facing such problems.
This realization inspired him to to think that can’t we have any organization which can understand our problems, believe in us & in our capabilities can come forward to give a helping hand for youngsters like me who have urge for education, development, prosperity & to prove themselves in the society.
He united his visually challenged friends
Established Snehankit Association in year 1999 to support Visually Challenged when he was just studying in the 12th Std. at S.P. College, Pune.
5 Objectives of NAWPC
To equip the visually and Physically challenged with computer education to keep pace with today's technology-driven world.
To empower them with proper training in advance technology .
To boost up their confidence by creating an awareness about their potential and channelizing the same through well-designed programmers and co-curricular activities.
To enable them to be self-reliant and contribute to the larger society by enhancing their self-esteem and work-capability.
To bolster up and enliven their spirit to get ready to face life, live a life of dignity and be an ally in nation-building.
6 Background of our Visually Challenged students
Most of the students ( 90%) are
From Rural areas of all over Maharashtra
Complete their school education in Blind Schools
Economically backward
No support from Family
Few students are also in the age group of 40+ who are facing blindness in the later stage of their life due to some accidents or decease.
7 Computer Training Centre for Visually Challenged students
Computer training with the use of Screen reading Software JAWS for Windows Established in the year 2002
The first computer training center in its kind in whole Maharashtra dedicated to Visually impaired students 8 Computer Training Centre for Visually Challenged students
Available courses Certificate Course in MS-Office Non-formal Computer Training Program Basic Computer Course MS-CIT C - Language This Computer education is Free for all Visually challenged
9 Establishment of ' Digital Library for Physically Challenged Students '
This project is the first of its kind in Pune City .
The blind and disabled students now can enjoy the classic work of literature by listening to it on computer.
Inaugurated on 26th June 2010
