AGE Razzledazzle 3-5 This TV series supports children’s language skills, with a particular emphasis on listening and speaking. It’s designed for 3-5 year olds, but it can be used for slightly older children who need literacy reinforcement.

The programmes encourage children to join in with rhymes, songs, movement and simple stories, often linking language with physical movement. Nursery rhymes – both traditional and new – feature regularly.

The oral tradition, with its rhythmic, repetitive and patterned language, is a highlight of the series. Key skills that will be developed and supported include: aural attention span, auditory memory and articulation, such as voice and vocabulary development, to help children express and communicate their thoughts, ideas and feelings.

Five of the programmes are aimed at 5-7 year olds with 3 topic based programmes and 2 specifically designed to help develop language. 5 new programmes on nursery rhymes aim to give children access to traditional rhymes and songs with Justin teaching 3 or 4 words round the theme,‘sing a song’ to reinforce the theme.
