ANNUAL REPORT 2019-20 the Academic Year 2019-20 Began on a Stimulating Note with the Orientation Programme Held on 7Th August SINDHI COLLEGE No.33/2B, Hebbal, Kempapura, Bengaluru-560024 www.sindhicollege.com ANNUAL REPORT 2019-20 The Academic year 2019-20 began on a stimulating note with the Orientation Programme held on 7th August 2019, Principal Dr.B.S Srikanta briefed at length both newly admitted students and parents on the policies, rules and regulations of the college. He also dealt with the career opportunities available in various disciplines. He advised the students to have a well-defined goals in their lives and make sincere attempts to realize their goals. Though the Academic year began on a stirring note , COVID -19 cut short the activities , disrupted the academic schedule and of course taught us how to use the technology in our Teaching- Learning process. After the closure of college, due to lock down in the country , we resorted to the conduct of online classes, which was received well by our students. It was indeed a very successful one. Even the internal evaluation was done online .We are happy that the technology came to the rescue of students and teachers and students did not lose an academic year though it was extended by few months. Even during the year 2019-20 , we have seen several developments happening in the college. BBA(Aviation Management) Course started, intake for BCA course enhanced from 80-120 seats, construction of multi-purpose hall at Govt.Primary School, Dasegowdana Doddi was completed with the support from the Management , staff and students. Detailed report on all the activities of the college including Webinars conducted in the college and participated by the faculty during the lock down period are presented in the ensuing paragraphs. Cover Page The handle http://hdl.handle.net/1887/20107 holds various files of this Leiden University dissertation. Author: Gerritsen, Roos Title: Fandom on display : intimate visualities and the politics of spectacle Date: 2012-11-08 part i . INTIMACY ON DISPLAY the lives and 2 loves of celebrity images 80 81 Every day the urge grows stronger to get hold of an object at very close range by way of its likeness, its reproduction. (Benjamin 1969b, 223) Introduction: On how viewers engage images and how images engage viewers Th e photo on the previous page depicts a Rajini fan with a torn out image of Rajinikanth held close to his heart.1 Th e fact that he used an image of Rajinikanth to show me and capture his fandom and the way in which he positions it close to his body already points to the ways in which images can be staged as intimate, embodied objects. Th is embodied proximity of the image of Rajinikanth serves as a starting point for an exploration of several kinds of images produced and staged by fans. In Chapter 1 we saw how fans can feel attracted towards their movie star. I demonstrated that images and stories play an important role in the construction of a movie star’s persona. Fan collectivity and individual fandom are channeled through diff erent kinds of movie star images. Th e images here range from commercial, mass-produced ones encountered in and collected from magazines, stickers or posters to vernacular images such as framed photos, bill- boards and paintings produced by fans themselves.

  • The Psychosocial Impact of Child Sexual Abuse: an Exploratory Pilot Study in Delhi
KAILASH SATYARTHI CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION A N N U A L R E P O R T 2 0 1 7 - 1 8 FROM THE CHAIRPERSON'S DESK We made significant advancements globally in 2017-18, in an endeavour to bring millions of children out of the dingy labyrinths of violence and exploitation into a bright world full of hope and possibilities. A world that holds the promise of peace, freedom, equity, justice, health, safety and education for all. We proactively worked with Heads of States and international bodies to ensure that the rights of children are prioritised in their national and regional policies and interventional agendas. In India, I heralded the biggest ever march against child sexual abuse - 'Bharat Yatra' against child rape and trafficking. Bharat Yatra traversed 12,000 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in just 35 days with the enthusiastic participation of 12,00,000 people. The issue of unabated violence that is inflicted upon children was put in the spotlight, as I called on the people to join this fight. The campaign collaborated with 5,000 civil society organisations, over 60 Indian faith leaders, 500 Indian political leaders, 600 local, state and national bodies of the Indian government, 300 members of the Indian judiciary, and over 25,000 educational institutions across India, all unequivocally demanding strict laws against child rape and trafficking. Having firmly instated children-centric objectives in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework so that children do not fall out of the radar of global development policies for the next fifteen years, we must ensure that we do not fail them again.
